Pet care experience
My specialty is cats + small pets!
I'm the proud owner of a blue heeler named River, as well as a rescue cat named Mochi. I am generally available over weekends unless I am traveling. I have over 20 years experience rescuing, re-homing and caring for cats, dogs and birds, in addition to a minor degree in Animal Science from Virginia Tech. I ran a cat rescue program in college and re-homed over 100 kittens and their mothers. I owned and operated a Pet Boutique & Grooming Spa in London, UK and ran a doggy day care and cat boarding facility. I will do light grooming (no cutting or bathing) during my visits. I specialize in cats and other small pets such as hamsters and lizards. I have a lot of experience with very old cats as well as giving oral medications.

As always, my cats were well cared for. I loved getting updates and seeing pics after every visit!
Carmen and her daughter are great! They took excellent care of our cats and our various aquatic animals on two separate occasions, once for a couple of visits and once for a week straight. They sent us pictures and fun updates every visit which made being away from our pets a lot less anxiety-inducing. We will definitely be asking them to watch our pets next time we’re out of town!
Our cat was well cared for, but several issues made this experience unacceptable. The sitter tried to pet our cat despite clear instructions not to as well as my cat showing clear signs she was scared and brought her children into our home without permission. While we appreciate the care given, the lack of communication and disregard for boundaries were very disappointing.

Carmen took great care of our cat while we were on vacation. Winston is shy around new people and Carmen took the time to make him feel comfortable. She followed all care instructions, left detailed notes after each visit, and was always on time. I highly recommend Carmen!
Calendar and availability
Schedule
I work from home 100% of the time and I’m available for daily drop-ins in the Waterford and Paeonian Springs areas during the day and evening. I am also available on call, so if you need someone to run up to your house to check on anything, I can do that as well.

I leave your home as you left it. This means that I treat it as my own to ensure that I’m not only providing pet care while you are away, but also providing home care.

A typical day
I love to play with cats and their toys and enjoy giving them all the cuddles that they ask for. Even with very timid cats, I will try and find something that makes them happy.
