Safety, trust & environment

Caring for your pet in my home is all about ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. Your pet will have regular outdoor time on a leash or tie-out. I also maintain crate training for those moments when I'm away, ensuring your pet's security and a controlled environment. In addition to these essentials, I believe in the power of play and interaction. Your pet will receive plenty of attention, playtime, and affection. I'll even make sure to add some quality playtime with my dogs, Mara and Zoey, to keep them happy and engaged. I'm here to attend to both you and your pet's needs, making their stay as enjoyable and stress-free as possible.

Information Carly R. would like to know about your pet

Before pet-sitting, it's important to be well-informed about the pet's needs and preferences to ensure a successful and comfortable stay. Here's a list of things to know ahead of time: -Health and Medications: Be aware of any health issues, allergies, or medical conditions the pet has. Know their medication schedule and how to administer it if needed. -Behavioral Traits: Learn about the pet's behavior, including any triggers for anxiety, fear, or aggression. Understand their likes, dislikes, and how they interact with other animals and people. -House Rules: Understand the pet's house rules, such as where they are allowed to go, any restrictions, and any specific commands they respond to. -Emergency Contacts: Have access to emergency contact information for the pet's owner, as well as the contact details for their veterinarian in case of any issues. -Special Instructions: If there are specific routines or instructions, make sure to understand and follow them, including any particular quirks or rituals.

A typical day

A typical day for a dog under my care is designed to ensure their comfort, happiness, and well-being. Here's a rundown of what to expect: -Morning Bathroom Break: I'll start the day by letting your dog out to go to the bathroom, ensuring their comfort. -Mealtime: Your dog will be fed as per your specific instructions, with access to water available 24/7 to keep them hydrated. -Playtime with Companions: Your furry friend will enjoy play sessions with my dogs, Mara and Zoey, creating opportunities for social interaction and exercise. -Outdoor Fun: When suitable, we'll spend quality time outdoors, whether it's playtime in the yard, going for neighborhood walks, or exploring the scenic walking path in the nearby old quarry, called Hidden Lake Park. -Interactive Play: I'll engage your pet with toys, making sure they're mentally stimulated and having fun. -Training and Commands: If you're interested in additional training or reinforcing known commands, I can provide these services for an extra charge. -Comfort and Sleep: Your dog will have the freedom to roam throughout the house and relax on the couches. There's also a comfortable crate setup where they can retreat for rest or sleep. Alternatively, they're welcome to share my room for a cozy night's sleep. -Customized Care: I'm committed to providing any additional care or attention your pet may need, ensuring their well-being throughout their stay. Rest assured, your dog's day under my care is tailored to their specific needs, offering a mix of fun, exercise, comfort, and companionship.

Pet care experience

My pet journey began in 2012 at a doggy daycare, where I learned to read and understand dogs better. This ignited my passion. Later, I adopted Miko in 2015, gaining insights into puppy training. I worked at Petco for 5 years and own or have owned a bird, fish, a cat, ferrets, a hamster, and dogs, expanding my expertise in pet care. In 2015, I became a certified dog trainer through Petco's positive dog training mentorship program. I attained a bachelors degree in animal behavior in 2018. Today, I work in the veterinary field, deepening my pet health knowledge.

Carly has been our dogsitter for several years. Although we usually only need her to let them out for potty breaks, she always goes the extra mile, either by spending a few extra minutes playing with them, texting me a quick report, or sending a picture of them enjoying their “recess” outside. Over the years she has helped take care of our cocker spaniels, lab, and more recently, a special needs senior German Shepard mix. Carly is incredibly reliable and (all-around) a gem of a person! I highly recommend her.

Carly was great to work with. Our cat requires shots and is a scared around new people. Carly was able to work with her to be able to administer her injection. We were able to have a wonderful vacation without worrying about our pet's care.
