We have a large, fully fenced backyard (see photos) and a nice, cool patio for lounging on those warmer summer days. We have an extra-large dog crate that we can set up for your pet if they are used to being crated, but we are also very comfortable with just having your dog sleep on a dog bed somewhere in our home where they feel safest. You can let us know your preference on how much indoor vs outside time you would like your pet to experience during their stay with us based on what they are used to in your home. We are also happy to offer pick-off/drop-off for $15 round trip if that would help you.

Please let us know how your dog is with children. We have young kids and it will be a good fit for us both if your dog is comfortable being around children. Also, let me know your pet's energy level so that we can best tailor their experience with our family, ranging from primarily couch snuggles to daily walks/runs.
A typical day
We live in a very walkable South Hill neighborhood and our family is quite active and often enjoys getting out to nearby trails and we would gladly bring along your pet if that is something that they would enjoy or benefit from. We can even set up a kiddie pool if your pup would enjoy lounging in that to cool off during the warmer summer months. Otherwise, we enjoy spending time at home together and can engage with your pup in our large backyard.

Pet care experience
My husband, Kenny, and I have grown up always having dogs as a part of our families. Shortly after getting married, we adopted our sweet Katie from a local shelter and it was an absolute joy to invite her into our family and continue our love of pet ownership as a new couple. As many of you have experienced, she become our spoiled fur-baby and the love only tripled for Katie when our daughter was born and we watched their sweet bond grow. Sadly, Katie recently passed and our family is navigating the big hole left in our home with no dogs around, but also not being quite ready to bring a new pet of our own into the family. Hence, we decided to join the Rover community for a time and pour the love we have for dogs into blessing our neighborhood's pets when needed. We have A LOT of love available to shower on your beloved furry family members. During their stay in our home they will truly be welcomed in as a part of our family for however long we get to care for them. Since we have no pets currently, your dog will receive our full attention and care and likely many snuggles from our daughter! I will mention that during Katie's final year, we gained experience caring for an elderly dog (prescriptions, diapering, frequent potty needs, speciality foods, comfort care) and we can bring that experience to caring for your pet if there is a need. I am a registered nurse and can administer injectable medications if needed.
Reviews
We felt really pleased leaving our dog Mitzi with the Solberg family. They gave us regular feedback about how Mitzi was doing, and when we picked her up, she was not nervous or desperate to leave as she often is with other places we have boarded Mitzi. We highly recommend them as caring for your pet.
Floyd was well cared for and he loved getting to be a part of Carly and Kenny's family for several days. I'm surprised he wanted to come home :)
Carly and Kenny and girls were great to Cooper during his stay with their family over Christmas. We received updates and pictures which helped ease any worries/concerns. We appreciated their responsiveness and care of Cooper and would recommend to anyone looking for a sitter. Thank you.
Carly and Kenny gave our pooch an excellent stay. They were communicative and asked thoughtful questions. Their oldest child gave our dog extra attention which was appreciated.
