A typical day

My last dog I fostered was very high energy (We ran 3-5 miles a day together) so we would do runs, long walks, and sessions in the open dog run areas. A normal day was 7am (run to dog run, stay for an hour and do a few sprint sessions across the field), a lunchtime (short walk), a walk at 5pm (30 min), and a longer walk at 8 pm. Last pee break at 11 pm. This was a 60 pound active pitbull.

Pet care experience

Many of my clients call me a "dog whisperer" because I have a knack for working with dogs that need a little extra patience and understanding. I especially love caring for newly adopted dogs and helping them adjust to their new homes. I've cared for many dogs that had been adopted less than 2 weeks earlier, helping them settle into their new environment, build confidence, reduce anxiety, and establish positive routines. I have extensive experience with foster dogs, newly adopted dogs, reactive dogs, dogs with separation anxiety, senior dogs, special-needs dogs, and dogs that need extra physical support (including carrying dogs up to 70 pounds up and down stairs). I fostered a pitbull for a few months and am very proud that I crate-trained her, adjusted her to city living, and taught her new tricks. I've also helped other friends get into fostering and helped train their dogs to acclimate to city life including separation anxiety, running on a leash, and new tricks. I have experience with pitbulls, American Staffordshire Terriers, golden retrievers, Australian Shepherds, Goldendoodles, Ridgebacks, black labs, (french + english) bull dogs, German shepherds, Dobermans, daschunds and pugs and have taken care of dogs 5 - 140 pounds. Most of the dogs I care for are high-energy, medium-to-large breeds (typically 45–80 pounds). As a runner, I love exercising with energetic dogs and letting them set the pace. I've even helped many dogs that had never run before learn to run comfortably and confidently alongside me. Whether your dog needs lots of physical exercise, mental stimulation, or simply someone who understands their energy level, I'm happy to meet them where they are. I absolutely love dogs, and fostering, dog sitting, and hiking with them is one of my favorite ways to spend my time. If your dog is newly adopted, high-energy, anxious, or simply needs someone experienced and patient, I'd love to help them feel safe, confident, and at home.

As first time rover users Carleen made us more than comfortable watching our dog and cat while we were away. She provided daily updates and was a great communicator! Will definitely book her in the future. :) thanks soooo much!!!

Carleen is the best! She is very thorough and took great care of our dogs. We recently adopted two dogs and were nervous about leaving them for the first time but Carleen did an amazing job and kept our minds at ease with plenty of photo updates and keeping us aware of their behavior. I would highly recommend Carleen and your pets will love her!

Carleen was amazing with my pittie! She was very communicative and I felt confident leaving my dog in her care. You can tell that she has experience with a lot of different dogs and knows how to handle different types of behaviors. I would absolutely book Carleen again!
