I don't do boarding in my home, but I am willing to drop ins whenever the need arises. I will do one or two overnights in a row with established clients when I am available to do so.

Information Carey W. would like to know about your pet

I would prefer to meet pets and owners prior to the first visit so that everyone feels comfortable going forward. I don't have any preference as far as my client's dogs. I will do as many meet and greets as necessary so that the clients and the dog or dogs feel comfortable with me. With that said, some dogs can still be very territorial when their owners aren't home. Please keep that in mind when you are hiring someone to take care of your dogs.

A typical day

I enjoy taking dogs on walks! It's beneficial for the dogs and for myself! My knees are getting worse so I'm limiting the size of the dogs. 30 lb maximum. If the service is for a dog walk I try to time everything so that they get the full amount of time outdoors for their walk. I check the weather report every day and at every time of year so that I know what the weather will be like for each day, so I try to keep in mind what I need to do to keep the pet safe from the heat or the cold. I often vary my dog walk routes to avoid boredom and tend to look for more shaded routes if it's a hot day or I will curtail the walk depending on the heat and humidity. And the same, if it is cold and snowy or icy outdoors. If it's rainy, we might take a short potty walk and get the business over with and then I will play inside with the dog or dogs.

Keeping you and your pets safe!

Pet care experience

***I currently have, and am prepared to use, protective equipment to continue to care for pets during this difficult time since covid. I will work with you to plan the best way that I can care for your pets and keep you safe.*** My service area is in the Mount Joy/Elizabethtown area only. I do know of a sitter that I can refer you to if you are in the Marietta and Bainbridge area. ****I am also offering stroller rides for disabled dogs and dogs that are terminally ill, so that they can still enjoy the outdoors even if they are unable to walk anymore! <3 (depending on the size/weight of the dog).**** My pet experience is not only with dogs, but cats, parrots, guinea pigs, ferrets, bunnies and tortoises as well. I am willing to feed reptiles with proper instruction and know pet CPR. I can give diabetic insulin injections and oral medications.... also willing to transport to vet visits. I have quite a few regular clients during the week. I may be available at other times, so please feel free to contact me and ask. I *prefer* to keep my Rover visits within the Elizabethtown/Mount Joy area but at times there have been exceptions. If you have a pet that is fearful of thunderstorms I would be glad to make an extra visit if at all possible during those times. I've had a dog that was fearful of thunderstorms, so I am well-versed in what can help during those times to calm your dog. I occasionally do over nights with regular clients if my schedule allows. Thank you! I currently work as a dog walker/pet sitter 7 days a week. My daily schedule as of January 2023 is booked with regular walks from 10:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Sadly, older pets pass on and clients move so it does change from time to time. I'm extremely safety oriented when I perform my dog walks and pet visits. I avoid talking on the phone or listening to music during walks because I want to be vigilant of any potential dangers for my client or myself. One day I was walking a small dog and all of a sudden I heard a growl coming closer to us but the dog was small and I didn't see it right away. Because I was paying full attention, I was able to hear the growling dog coming toward us and could protect the dog that was in my care. Even during drop-in visits, I'm always watching for possible safety issues. My current clients are well aware that I may unplug items such as coffee pots and toasters etc while they are away for extended periods. And if I see any potentially harmful safety issues I will notify the owner right away. If there any medical issues I will call the owner right away also.

Carey went above and beyond for my Charlie (cat). He wasn't feeling so friendly during her visits but she still talked to him and gave him attention. She was kind and patient with him. She washed his bowls, scooped the litter, and took a lot of pictures and updates. When I got home Charlie was happy to see us and I could tell he was well cared for. Thank you for all your thoughtful care!!

I would highly recommend Carey's services as a pet sitter! During our vacation, she was fantastic with sending updates during her drop ins with our cats. She went above and beyond to make sure they were happy and cared for in our absence, even setting up a laser toy for their entertainment. We had peace of mind knowing our kitties were in good hands while we were away.

We’re so pleased with the in home care visits that Carey provided our dogs. She communicated with us regularly throughout the stay and sent great pictures. Even watered our herbs that were getting scorched in the heat!!! We will utilize Carey’s expertise with our pups again in the future. I highly recommend her to anyone seeking care for your pets!

Carey was great! Addie took to her right away and was snuggled up to her before our meet and greet was over. Carey was very attentive and caring and gave great feedback after each visit. I will definitely ask her to pet sit again and will recommend her to others.
