Fear-Free Environment at Home

I've been an animal person my whole life. Dogs mainly, but most any creature has peaked my interested at some point, from the furry to the scaled. I have personal experience with dogs, cats, & snakes; being solely responsible for my own for around 20 years. I have worked in pet stores, responsible for pet care for reptiles and rodents, volunteered with animal rescues, and fostered hard-to-adopt dogs. I previously managed a dog park bar in Austin, TX, and trained new staff on dog body language and behavior, as well as minimally intrusive redirection methods when necessary. I have worked with shy, fearful dogs and other reactive dogs. No force or fear-based management methods are used in my home, and dogs can go at their own pace when it comes to interacting with me as well as my other animals. I have some clients who always stay separate from my dogs and we do rotations throughout the day. I love animals of all shapes and sizes and would love to help keep your pets loved and spoiled while you're away!

Doggy Day Care • Dec 17, 2025

Cara's setup was the perfect place to let my older lady Josie get used to being around other dogs again in a more relaxed and controlled environment than a big facility. Cara was very communicative and did a great job making sure Josie was comfortable and happy. Will definitely send her again!

Cara did a fantastic job watching Gus, our red heeler. Cara’s dogs were great for Gus’ socialization.

My wife and I made arrangements with Cara for her to watch our dog, Casper, last week while we were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. When it came time to drop her off, we found out that Cara was sick. She said she still had no problem watching Casper for the week, so we dropped her off and went on our way. During the week, Cara sent us pics and updates to let us know that Casper was okay and was getting along with her dogs! When we picked Casper up at the end of the week, Cara said she was starting to feel better. That means that she was sick the whole week but was still able to take care of Casper and walk her when needed! We really appreciate Cara for still taking Casper in and not cancelling on us while she was sick! We are so glad we chose her to watch our pup, and that she took such good care of Casper while we were away!

I was very pleased with Cara. She helped relieve a lot of anxiety that I had. She came outside to help me with my dogs and the items they needed for their stay. When I left she updated me each day on how they were doing. When I returned Cara again helped me with their items and getting them into the car. I tipped her, thanked her and left. I will definitely use her again if they need to be watched.

Calendar and availability

Schedule

Drop Off & Pick Up Times: Monday - Friday 7:30am - 9pm Saturday & Sunday 8am - 9pm For meet & greets: I don’t bring my dogs to meet & greets and I do not have strangers inside my home. When I have a new dog come into my home, I do dog intros extremely slow so I can go at their pace and comfort level. I have extensive experience integrating different dogs with one another and reading body language. To date, I have never had an altercation in my home with a guest dog that has broken skin and I take this slow process extremely seriously for the comfort and safety of everyone. I work from home Monday - Friday, and generally spend weekends working on renovating my house. If I do go out, I am generally not ever gone more than ~6ish hours. Dogs will not be left unsupervised together at any point for safety, and guest dogs will be placed in the separate room when alone. I do have a large crate if necessary. We do bathroom breaks and breakfast first thing in the morning, other bathroom breaks as needed through out the day, and dinner in the evening, and one last bathroom break before bed.

Safety, trust & environment

I own my home, with a 6’ fenced in front yard just ~20 minutes outside of Asheville. I also have 4 dogs of my own, all between 30-60lbs, and 2 dog-savvy cats. I keep a space set up for guest dogs to have any needed separation from both the resident dogs and cats, complete with a crate if needed.

Pets

A typical day

I have a toy bin full of stuffed toys, Benebones, firehose toys, and more. For the busybody, I have slow feeders, kibble dispensing toys, and for an extra fee can provide beef cheek rolls for chewers. Let me know if your dog cannot have soft toys around, or if they have any resource guarding tendencies so this can be managed safely.
