My regular job is mostly online, otherwise only in person a couple hours at a time, so I have extreme flexibility with my schedule. I live in a quiet neighborhood, have a fenced in backyard and doggie door, plus reliable transportation.

I have my own pets; cats & dogs. All but one dog are from a rescue I used to be involved with. My dogs also have their own room in the house. I am located close to a walking trail as well.
Information Cara L. would like to know about your pet
I like to know about your pet’s likes and dislikes, do they have outdoor territory preferences, places they can’t be touched, how do they interact with other animals… I especially need to know about health issues they may have. I expect all animals that stay with me to be current on vaccinations and flea treatments. Fleas can be picked up as easily as from a squirrel in a yard.
A typical day
I’m excellent at following instructions and like to get to know your pet on their terms and let them lead the way. If they want to play fetch for 10 minutes, I guess that’s what we’ll do. If they want to rest on my shoulder in a particular recliner, I guess that’s where I’m parking myself.

Pet care experience
Professor by day, animal caretaker… also by day. 🤪 I mostly teach online, and I like to work with animals in my free time. I’m also married, with kids, so it’s nice to get a break and keep company with critters that don’t ask 500 questions per day. I’ve been around animals since birth, but have worked in a vet clinic, with rescue groups and have many years of experience caretaking. I have had many types of animals as pets and am very comfortable with creatures of all shapes and sizes.

Cara is wonderful! She takes great care of our pets, just as we ask. She notices when our pets may be acting different than usual and brings that to our attention. We have a great sense of comfort when we leaving our pets under Cara’s care.
Cara is wonderful. She is reliable, does just what we ask, reaches out when she has questions and puts up with a grumpy old dog that barks at her. We couldn’t be more grateful for her help and the care she gives our babies.
