Pet care experience

Your Pet’s New Best Friend 🐾

I have experience caring for both small and large dogs, from energetic puppies to more laid-back companions. I grew up with dogs and have learned that every breed and personality has different needs. I’ve cared for and walked Morkies, Boxers, Rottweilers, Black Labs, Havanese, and many other breeds. I’m comfortable handling dogs of different sizes, energy levels, and personalities, and I enjoy giving them plenty of exercise and attention. When appropriate, I love taking dogs for walks, playing fetch, or visiting a dog park so they can get some extra playtime and socialization. I also have experience training my own dogs and have picked up helpful techniques for managing different behaviors. I’m comfortable with baths and light grooming when needed, and most importantly, I treat every pet in my care like they’re my own.

Candy took great care of our two elderly pups while we were on vacation. She was reliable, on time, gave updates regularly, and had great communication. Couldn’t have asked for a better sitter for our pups. My pups need some extra care in their senior years and Candy handled everything from medication to doggy diapers. I will definitely be booking with her again. Highly recommend!

Took great care of my two dogs.- they can be an energetic handful - zero problems in Candy J’s care. I was running a touch late for the drop off and she was very accommodating. I will definitely book with Candy again.

Schedule

I have a flexible hybrid work schedule, which allows me to build pet care into my daily routine. I work from home several days a week and have flexibility throughout the day for walks, drop-ins, feeding, and check-ins. I’m also happy to plan visits around each pet’s normal routine and needs. Outside of work, I enjoy getting out for walks and staying active, so taking dogs for walks or giving them playtime fits naturally into my day. I’m able to discuss specific schedules and routines with each pet parent to make sure their pet gets consistent, reliable care.

Safety, trust & environment

Safety and trust are my top priorities when caring for someone’s pet. I take the time to learn each pet’s routine, personality, feeding schedule, exercise needs, medications if applicable, and any specific instructions from their owner. In my home, I have two dogs of my own—a 7-year-old dog and a 6-month-old puppy. They are both accustomed to having other dogs around, and I understand the importance of making sure every dog feels comfortable and has time to adjust to a new environment. I provide a clean, welcoming space with plenty of opportunities for walks, playtime, and rest. In a client’s home, I’m respectful of their space and follow their pet’s routine as closely as possible. I make sure doors, gates, and leashes are secure, keep pets supervised, and pay close attention to their behavior and surroundings. I also provide regular updates and photos so owners can feel confident that their pets are happy and well cared for. I treat every pet like they’re part of the family while they’re in my care.

Pets

A typical day

Every pet has a different personality and energy level, so I like to tailor the day to what they enjoy most! For dogs, a typical day may include walks, playtime, fetch, backyard time, and plenty of opportunities to explore and sniff. When appropriate, I also enjoy taking dogs to a dog park for extra exercise and socialization. For lower-energy dogs or older pups, I’m happy to keep things more relaxed with leisurely walks, cuddles, and plenty of time to nap. For puppies and energetic dogs, I can incorporate additional play and enrichment throughout the day. For cats, I enjoy playtime, attention, and enrichment while also respecting their need for quiet time and independence. For house sitting, I’ll follow your pet’s normal routine as closely as possible and provide plenty of attention, exercise, and companionship throughout the day. Since I have a flexible hybrid work schedule, I may occasionally leave the home for work, errands, or other commitments, so house sitting does not mean I’ll be in the home 24/7. I’ll always consider your pet’s individual needs and comfort level when planning my time away and am happy to discuss expectations beforehand. My goal is for every pet to have a fun, comfortable day while maintaining the routine they’re used to at home.

I’d love to know anything that will help me make your pet feel safe, comfortable, and at home! Please share their personality, daily routine, feeding schedule, exercise needs, medications, allergies, and any behaviors, fears, or triggers I should be aware of. For pets staying in my home, it’s especially important to know how they interact with other dogs, as I have two dogs of my own, a 7-year-old dog, Crosby, and a 7-month-old puppy, Clementine. Please let me know how your pet typically does around other dogs and whether they are comfortable in a home with other pets. I’d also appreciate knowing about separation anxiety, reactivity, house-training, resource guarding, or anything else that may affect their comfort or safety. If your pet has specific bathroom habits, sleeping preferences, feeding instructions, or other routines they’re used to, I’m happy to follow them as closely as possible. The more I know about your pet ahead of time, the better I can make their stay or visit safe, comfortable, and enjoyable. I’m always happy to chat beforehand to make sure we’re a good fit!
