Availability

As a teacher on summer break, my schedule is very open and flexible. I have full availability throughout the day, evenings, and weekends between 11am and 10pm, allowing me to provide consistent care and companionship when your dog needs it most. I live in Union City and have my own reliable transportation, so I can easily travel to your home anywhere in the area. Because I am not tied to a typical 9-to-5 office routine, I can offer your pet more than just a quick check-in—I am available for extended walks, midday play sessions, or simply staying present to keep a senior dog or anxious pup company (~30 minutes, if needed). Whether you need a regular weekday routine or last-minute weekend help, I can easily integrate your pet’s needs into my day.

Safety, trust & environment

Safety and reliability are my top priorities. As a longtime rescue owner and university professional, I treat every pet with the same vigilance and care I give my own. In Your Home & On Walks: I am a respectful guest and a focused handler. I provide my own reliable transportation and come prepared with spare leashes and waste bags. During walks, I am hyper-aware of surroundings to ensure a safe, stress-free experience. In My Home: My environment is fully pet-proofed and secure, featuring a fenced-in yard with no environmental risks. Because of my flexible summer schedule, your dog will enjoy constant supervision and a calm, climate-controlled space to relax. Trust & Communication: I strictly follow all care instructions—from meal timings to medication—and provide regular photo updates so you always have peace of mind.

Information Cameron D. would like to know about your pet

To give your pup the best care, please let me know about their unique personality and routine! Here are a few details that are helpful to share: Social Comfort: How do they feel about new people? Do they prefer a slow introduction or a specific toy/treat to break the ice? Health & Seniors: Are there mobility concerns or medical needs? I am experienced with administering oral medications and senior care. Walk Style: How are they on a leash? Do they have "triggers" I should avoid, like bikes, squirrels, or other dogs? Dietary Rules: Any allergies or strict meal schedules I should follow? Energy Level: Are we going for a high-energy zoomie session or a slow-paced sniff walk? Knowing these things helps me provide the safe, attentive, and relaxed experience your dog deserves.

A typical day

For a typical day, I like to follow your pup’s lead and keep their routine feeling like home. Whether I’m dropping in or heading out for a walk, my focus is on a mix of structured exercise and genuine connection. A typical visit or walk usually includes: The Walk: I’m a big believer in the "sniff walk", if that's something your dog wants. I let dogs engage their noses, which is great for mental stimulation and helps them tire out in the best way possible. Active Play: If they have the energy, we’re doing zoomies in the yard, playing fetch, or a spirited game of fetch. For senior dogs, I keep things low-impact with gentle movement and massages. The "Slow Chill": For dogs that just need company, I’m happy to sit on the floor and hang out. I have a very calm energy, and I love providing that quiet, comforting presence for pets who might get lonely during the day. Treats & Fresh Water: I always make sure the water bowl is fresh and can provide any treats or meals exactly as you’ve instructed. Since I’m on summer break, I’m never in a rush. My day is flexible, so your pet gets my full attention and a reliable partner for whatever adventures—or naps—they have planned!

PhD Dog Dad: Expert, Trusted Care

Pet care experience

Hi there! I’m Cameron. I’m a university lecturer currently on summer break, which means my schedule is wide open and I’m looking to spend that extra time offering dog walking and drop-in visits around the area. You can book my services for any day of the week between 11am and 10pm. I accept bookings at least 3 days in advance and ask that you notify me about cancelling at least 1 day before. I’ve been a dog person my entire life and have experience with everything from 100lb Rottweilers and Akitas to tiny Chihuahuas. Because I’m a Stanford PhD, I tend to be very detail-oriented when it comes to following care instructions, but my actual "vibe" is very low-key and disarming. I know some pups can be a little nervous around men, so I specialize in a patient, "slow-introduction" approach to make sure they feel totally relaxed and safe with me. Since I’m on break, I’m available throughout the day, evenings, and weekends. I have my own car and can easily come to you for: Senior Care & Enrichment: I’ve spent the last decade caring for my own 12-year-old rescue Golden Retriever mix, so I’m very comfortable with senior needs. Medical Support: I am experienced in administering oral medications and keeping a close eye on health or mobility shifts. Active Adventures: Whether it’s a high-energy game of tug, a "sniff-oriented" stroll, or a focused walk to get the zoomies out, I’m happy to match your dog's pace. Reliable Check-ins: I pride myself on being punctual with meals, fresh water, and bathroom breaks. I’m new to Rover but definitely not new to dogs. I’ve spent years pet-sitting for friends and family, and I’m excited to meet some new four-legged neighbors. I’ll always send plenty of photo updates so you can see exactly how much fun (or how much relaxing) your pup is having!
