Pet care fits naturally into my routine as I’m a veterinary medicine student, so animal care is already a big part of my daily life. I’m used to planning around university, placements and animal responsibilities, and I’m reliable with feeding times, walks, medication schedules, litter tray cleaning, playtime and owner updates. I’m happy to care for both dogs and cats around their normal routines, whether that involves walks, drop-in visits, feeding, enrichment, medication, quiet company, or keeping them settled while their owners are away.

Safety, trust & environment
When caring for pets in their own home, I always follow their usual routine as closely as possible, as familiar routines help animals feel safe and relaxed. I make sure food, water, litter trays, medication, doors, windows, garden access, leads, harnesses and any household instructions are managed carefully. I use calm, low-stress handling and never force interaction. I’m Fear Free Certified in dog and cat handling, with additional feline-specific certification, so I focus on patience, choice and reading each pet’s body language. I’m comfortable with nervous pets, rescue animals, senior pets, young animals and pets who need a gentler approach. Because of my veterinary placement experience, I’m confident noticing changes in appetite, toileting, behaviour, mobility, grooming, breathing, wounds or general wellbeing, and I will always keep owners updated clearly.
Information Caitlyn V. would like to know about your pet
Their normal feeding routine and portion sizes Any medication, allergies or health conditions Their usual toileting or litter tray habits Their exercise needs and walking routine Whether they are allowed off-lead or must stay on-lead How they behave around other dogs, cats, people and children Any fears, triggers or things they dislike Whether they are nervous, reactive, playful, cuddly, independent, elderly, young or high-energy Their favourite toys, treats, games or enrichment Any training cues or house rules you use Their vet details and emergency contact Anything that may indicate stress or illness for them This helps me keep their care safe, consistent and as close to their normal routine as possible.
A typical day
A typical day would depend completely on your pet’s personality and normal routine. For dogs, this could include feeding, fresh water, walks, toilet breaks, playtime, enrichment, basic training reinforcement, brushing, cuddles and calm companionship. For cats, this could include feeding, litter tray cleaning, medication if needed, play, enrichment, brushing, or simply quiet company if they prefer their own space. I have experience with dog sitting, animal shelters, rescue cats, behavioural enrichment and veterinary placements, so I understand that every pet is different. Some dogs love adventure and games, some cats want playtime and affection, and some pets would rather be admired from a respectful distance like tiny household monarchs. I’ll always adapt to what makes your pet feel safest and happiest.

Experienced Vet Student Sitter
Pet care experience
I’m a third-year veterinary medicine student with experience in veterinary practices, animal shelters, dog sitting, equine care and animal rehabilitation. I’m Fear Free Certified in dog, cat, feline-specific and equine handling, so I focus on calm, low-stress care and making each pet feel safe at their own pace. I have experience with rescue animals, nervous pets, senior animals, young animals, post-operative care, medication, enrichment, feeding routines and behaviour support. Through my veterinary placements I’ve assisted with consultations, inpatient care, anaesthesia monitoring, discharge appointments and post-operative monitoring, so I’m confident spotting changes in behaviour, appetite, mobility or general wellbeing. What sets me apart is that I combine genuine animal love with veterinary training, patience and welfare-focused handling. I’ll always follow your pet’s normal routine closely, keep you updated, and treat them with the same care and kindness I’d want for my own animals.

Reviews

We couldn’t be happier with Caitlyn’s dog and house sitting! She stayed with our Blue, for two weeks and did an absolutely amazing job. Caitlyn is so easygoing yet professional, and she kept us fully updated with regular pictures and messages, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. Most importantly, she truly loved Blue, and it was clear from his happy face in every update that the feeling was mutual! My house was immaculate too which was a bonus thank you ! We’ll 100% be asking Caitlyn to look after Blue again in the future, and we wouldn’t hesitate for a second to recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, reliable, and wonderful sitter.

Caitlyn was very attentive & caring whilst house sitting for our Dalmatian during spinal surgery recovery. Poppy has continued to make good progress during our holiday & Caitlyn saved our holiday as Poppy was not independent enough to enable her to go to her usual boarding. She was a great companion to our very demanding Dalmatian & needy cat. Thank you Caitlyn 🐈⬛ 🐶 🐾 🐾 🐾 🐾
