Pet care experience

Flexible and work from home Tue-Fri

Hello! I’m Caitlin. I live in the Edgewood/Brookland area of DC with my antique feline, Nala. I grew up with dogs, cats, birds, and reptiles, and I take care of friends’ and coworkers’ pets frequently when folks go out of town. I love all animals and I’m always excited to meet and take care of a new friend. While I do adore all animals, I am a small person and very large dogs could potentially get the best of me.

Excellent communication throughout the whole visit with lots of pictures and updates about how our boy was doing. We would absolutely trust Caitlin to watch him again in the future!

Schedule

I’m available most days, although I go into the office on Mondays and some other days when needed (office is local in DuPont). My work is very flexible, so I can stay home with any pets who need a little extra attention or need more walks and potty breaks throughout the day. My nights and weekends are usually pretty free, so I have plenty of time to dedicate to your pet.

Safety, trust & environment

I live in a two bedroom, one bathroom condo. While small, I can do crate training and the extra room can always be reserved for pets that are shy and need some alone space to adjust. There are two or three nearby dog parks (one within a ten minute walking distance at Bryant Street) that we can go to, as well as a couple of open parks for daily walks and potty breaks. I have some dog toys, some dog/cat beds if your pet likes those, food and water bowls, and pet shampoo if anything crazy happens and your buddy needs a bath.

Pets

A typical day

We can walk around outside in Brookland or go to the dog parks nearby. We could also walk the Metropolitan Branch Trail together. It’s a few miles long and a favorite of mine!

It’s always good to know if your baby needs special attention, medications, or anything else specific to them. The below questions aren’t all necessary, but these are some of the things that go through my mind when petsitting: 1. Are dog parks okay? 2. How are they around dogs, cats, kids? 3. Are they crated night/day? 4. Are they allowed on couches? 5. Long walks or can’t be bothered? 6. Any treats/foods you give them? Okay to give them treats from my stash? 7. Do they have separation anxiety or can they roam while I’m out? 8. How long do they usually wait between potty breaks? 9. Any other quirks I should be aware of?
