Best Way to Stay When You’re Away

Mature couple owned by two dogs offers the best way for your dog to stay when you are away. We have a large home near Lake Lewisville on .75 acre with an 8-foot fenced back yard and pool. Bryan is a retired Fortune 500 executive and Lynda works from home part time as a freelance writer. Both of us are dog rescue volunteers. We have plenty of space to play and provide the perfect playmates in two gentle rescue pals – a Golden Retriever (Sawyer) and a Great Pyrenees (Ella). Before your stay, we would love for you to come over for a meet-and-greet so you can feel comfortable leaving your dog with us and we can get to know your pet’s personality and needs. While you’re gone, we are happy to text or email you photos and updates so you have complete peace of mind. If you want to supply any of your dog’s favorite toys or treats, please feel free to bring those – but we have plenty here as well! Why I love dog sitting We have lived in Little Elm for 19 years and are active volunteers for Golden Retriever Rescue of North Texas (you will see a lot of Bryan’s photos on the GRRNT website and Facebook page). We adopted our Goldens from GRRNT, and have fostered their rescues in our home. We are both hopeless dog lovers, and our pups are spoiled – yours will be a welcome addition to our very happy pack! About my yard Our backyard is dog heaven! A half-acre of grass, trees, and bushes that is kept free of dog doody and a pool for pooches that like to splash around. The pool has a large platform where they can stand if they just want to get a drink or get their feet wet. The yard is fully fenced with an 8-foot wooden fence and gates are kept locked at all times. There is also a large covered porch and lots of shade. My experience administering medication Since we have always had dogs, including one advanced senior, we are experienced with and comfortable in administering medication.

Once again, we left our dog Nikki to Lynda and Bryan, they are dog loving couple, and have a lot of experience. Nikki is almost 13 years old, she can be relaxed at their home, and enjoy time at their home, that's why whenever we leave town, Lynda and Bryan is our fist choice. Lynda and Bryan taking good pictures and sent to us, we were worry free when we were on vacation.

What can we say that we haven't said before? We don't plan any trip without checking with Bryan and Lynda first to make sure they have room for our pups. Our dogs are like our family and we know they will get the same treatment with them. They are simply the best.

A typical day

Here's where we'll take our walks We live in a very quiet neighborhood near Lake Lewisville, with lots of trails for taking long walks – although your pooch will probably get pooped just playing in our huge back yard! Your dog's sleeping arrangement Our dogs sleep in our bedroom and yours are welcome to join us, if they are comfortable doing that. We have dog beds for each of our boys, and extras for guests. During the day, your dog can take a nice nap on the cool tile floor or a comfortable area rug – even the couch if they can get our boys off it! Time I'll spend with your dog Your dog will be with us the entire time he or she is here since Bryan is retired and Lynda works from home. Your dog will spend lots of time playing (supervised) in the back yard and if they want to take a swim, that’s fine, too. We have plenty of dog towels to dry them off!

Our dogs are up to date on all their vaccinations and monthly heartworm medications, and we’d like to be sure your dog is also up to date on theirs. We would like to know if your dog has any anxiety issues in your absence, thunderstorm anxiety, or other behavioral issues. We also want to know that your dog is housebroken and if they play well with other dogs. We want to make sure your dog has a happy and healthy visit, so we ask that you supply enough of your pup’s regular food to last their entire visit with us. You should also advise us of any allergies. We do not take Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, Dobermans, Chows, or Boxers. We don’t host any more than 3 dogs at a time. We ONLY accept dogs that have been neutered/spayed. *** PLEASE NOTE: owners who do not pick up their dogs by 1 p.m. on their departure date will be charged our day care rate of $30 per dog. ***
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
