Our dogs and lizard seemed to do well while we were out of town. Thanks for taking care of our pets. We did receive quite a few texts with photos of our pets while we were out of town - of them being fed and played with, so they looked good. A few things to note: When we arrived home from our trip, all our pets’ water bowls were nearly completely empty. There were ripped up boots and some of our kiddo’s stuffies eaten up and littered all over the house and backyard. None of that is normal for our pets. Only real time we’ve seen them tear things up is if they’ve been left alone for a truly extended period of time. Our house was left nowhere near the condition it was in when we left for our trip. We had a muddy and disheveled bed. Muddy paw prints and streaks all throughout the house. A full trash can that hadn’t been taken out and was full of flies (Our trip was 10-days). There was even fast food debris (cups, straws, etc.) left on our bedside table. The sink and dishwasher were both full of dirty dishes, with food debris all over the sink. The state of our house upon return was truly quite shocking. One additional note is that when we made this booking it was simply a solo profile with Brittany. A week before our trip, when I logged into Rover to touch base about details, the profile showed as a duo. While we’re ok with a shift happening, nothing was proactively communicated about this shift, which would have been prudent and appreciated. During our meet and greet with them, we were told they’d both be staying at our house. Totally cool. But after the fact, we learned that they split the time so one was housesitting for the first half and the other for the second half. Ok, again, that’s fine because our dogs are being taken care of. But when we brought up all these concerns upon our return home, the responses were essentially, “well I don’t know because I wasn’t there the last half so can’t speak to any of it,” and then not responding to and not showing any real concern for the concerns we raised. Brittany and Ty, I’d encourage y’all to improve your proactive communication. And for folks seeking house sitters, I’d encourage you to be more explicit in your expectations.
