My wife and I recently made the move to Southern Pines from Florida and have been enjoying getting to know the community—especially its many excellent pets. I’ve started a new job in downtown Southern Pines where I typically work 5 days a week from 10–5. I know that schedule isn’t the perfect fit for every animal household, so I like to be upfront about it. That said, I’m a great match for pets who are comfortable alone for 8 hours but like someone at home overnight. Mornings and evenings are when I’m fully available for walks, feedings, playtime, and general creature care. I believe good pet care starts with clear expectations, happy routines, and making sure every member of the household—furred, feathered, scaled, or leafy—feels safe and well looked after.

A typical day depends on your pet’s personality, but here’s what you can expect: Morning snuggles and check-ins: I start the day with gentle greetings, fresh water, breakfast, and a bit of slow-blinking for our cat friends. Playtime & enrichment: From fetch and tug-of-war with dogs to feather teasers or puzzle toys for cats, I make sure everyone gets mental stimulation and fun movement. Walks and backyard adventures: Dogs get walks around our pet-friendly neighborhood or safe playtime in the large fenced backyard, while cats and small pets enjoy supervised exploration or cozy sunbeam naps. Quiet time & cuddles: Not every pet wants nonstop action. I’ll curl up with shy or independent pets, read a book, or just let them chill in their comfort zone. Check-ins for humans: I send daily updates, photos, and funny stories, so you feel connected while you’re away. Bonus perks: I’ll water your plants, tidy up the space, and make sure everything smells fresh and inviting—because happy plants and happy pets make a happy home. 🌱
