Safety, trust & environment

All pets are cared for like I care for my own, which means I'll totally welcome them to snuggle in bed with me (please let me know if this is unwelcome in your household) and will do everything with their comfort and safety in mind. Please note that with this in mind, I do reserve the right to turn scheduled walks into drop-ins (for an equivalent time period) due to severe weather, including electrical storms, extreme heat or cold snaps. Rest assured your pet will still have a chance to relieve themselves but we may spend the majority of that time indoors playing enrichment games or learning new tricks.

Information Bridgit D. would like to know about your pet

Any territorial issues or stranger reactivity. I'd love a brief history of any pet I'm going to be interacting with truthfully - don't feel like you're boring me by telling me more about them, their personality and their likes & dislikes.

A typical day

Medicine Hat has some amazing trail systems that I can take your pooch out to explore! I love teaching dogs new tricks, ways to communicate with the world around them and am excellent at teaching basic manners.

Pet care experience

I have worked in boarding facilities for a good portion of my life, and one thing is for certain - boarding is not for every dog. Whether your dog is easily overwhelmed, adverse to change, not social with other dogs or simply a homebody who likes to sleep in bed, house sitting is a great option for dogs that don't fit traditional boarding well, and I specialize in it! I've owned, trained and showed dogs for over 25 years and have a wide variety of experience with all breeds, sizes, dispositions and ages. I do have years of experience with reactive dogs, shy dogs, those with separation anxiety and dogs that are lacking confidence, as well as all medication administration. I am very comfortable with cats and other smaller pets. I do have 1 cat of my own (down from 3 a few years ago) and lost my beloved Guinea pigs a few years ago. Have lots of plants? Me too! I love tropicals and I'll take care of your houseplants or outdoor gardens like they're my own! All clients will receive a complimentary initial visit (or "Meet and Greet") with your animals to ensure they are comfortable with me, as are you. Pets need a nail trim? I can do that while I'm there for $10 a pet (please send as Tip after confirmation that service has been completed for each pet). I am away select weekends for dog events. While your pets are in my care, they'd get the same level of love, care and attention my own animals receive. Having their people be away is stressful enough, I want them to feel comfortable, confident and happy to have me care for them. I typically only work 6 hours a day at my regular job so your pet should have as little disruption to their schedule as possible. Housesitting: I essentially live out of your home for the duration of your absence and try to adhere to your pet's normal schedule as much as possible. I treat your home and your pets with the utmost respect and aim for as little disruption as possible. Unfortunately Rover's calendar does not automatically pull holiday specific rates for Canadian/Albertan statutory holidays but holiday rates will still apply on those days.

Bridgit is an amazing pet sitter! We had an unexpected death in the family and had to stay away longer, Bridgit was extremely flexible and willing to help, which really took some stress off our shoulders. She's always so good with the kitties, especially for my senior girl who tends to be finicky. Bridgit always goes above and beyond, including keeping my plants alive! I will always rebook with her if she's available!
