I'll take your dog to the beach!

Pet care experience

I began dog-sitting during college when I lived in a vegan cooperative with 22 other college students in Isla Vista, California. I grew up on a farm with two black labs named Lucy and Lucky and many other animals including two parrots, an iguana, a peacock, and a cat so I am very accustomed to taking care of animals. I currently have one Siamese cat.

I requested from our pet setter that she be present for 3 nights while we were out of town. She was to be present from 6 pm to 9 am. She was to take our dog for a walk in the am and she could just let our dog out in the back yard in the evening. Food and water in the morning and evening. Everything went well Sunday night. Monday night the sitter did not arrive by 6:45 pm and when I reached out to see if everything was ok, I received an unusual response. The sitter said: “She was not providing a 24-7 dog sitting service and she had a college class project she needed to do at night". I explained it was ok if she left for a few hours. However, she was gone the second night from 8:30 pm until 2 am. She also said Mondays and Thursdays were her busiest school day. The third night started better with her arriving at 5:30 pm. However, she left at 6:17 pm and returned at 1 am for approx. 20 minutes and did not return until 8 am. Times are based on time stamps from August an electric door lock with her credentials from her cell phone. We had to use her cell phone number since the electronic lock cannot work through a phone relay like Rover uses. Her reason for not following the written agreement was 1) She was not a 24-7 service and 2) She was being paid a little per hour. At the meet and greet she stated she had classes during the day, and she was not a 24-hour service. I saw no problem since I did not need her there during the day. There was no mention she had college projects at night, or that she felt underpaid (based on fees she set). In conclusion it appears, based on text back and forth, she felt she was underpaid for services provided. To get clarity I looked at Rover’s Q&A section regarding house setting where I found this response: I let my clients know upon meet and greet what my schedule or day looks like. I am in their home from 6p-8a with 1 midday dropin if needed. I have many other clients during the day and cannot stay for 24hrs. Once I mention that it is pretty easy to determine whether I am a good fit. Angela T. When I asked her why she did not charge more she replied people will not pay more. I assume she found the marketplace did not give her enough clients when she raised prices. Her charge was $88 a night and the range listed on Rover was $1 to $250 dollars. My thinking was a college student would be perfect since she had classes during the day, and she only had to let the dog out back at night and feed her and a Fifteen minute in the am after feeding before leaving at 9 am. Out of the 15 hours she was there she had hours 8 hours to sleep and approximately 6 1/2 hours to do schoolwork on her computer using a high-speed fiber optic internet connection using a high-speed gaming rated Wi-Fi, and watch TV with HULU, Apple TV, HBO Max, Amazon prime and Netflix. I have tried to reach out to Rover, and I cannot find an email to write if you have any issues or concerns. I want to know if Rover truly tells dog sitters that only have to be present for 4 hours on overnight stays. She clearly knew what was expected as that is what she provided the first night. I wonder how many unsuspecting pet owners she has done this too. The sad part was if she provided the service I requested when I returned home I would have checked to see if her compensation was below average for the service he provided I would have compensated her as well as provided a good tip.

Briana did a fantastic job sitting for our dog with separation anxiety. She arrived promptly on time and was patient as our pup warmed up to her. She sent us pictures and videos and communicated updates with us throughout the evening. We will definitely be repeat clients!

I will take your dog on long walks to the beach and the park! I am trying to be more active, so this works perfectly with my routine. I will follow directions and make sure your fur baby is taken care of in the exact same way that you would.

Information Briana B. would like to know about your pet

Let me know if your dog/cat has any special needs or behaviors that I can account for! I will be happy to accommodate. While I do not have a certification in dog first aid, I worked as a medical assistant for a year and am familiar with healthcare practices.

A typical day

I like to make sure your dog gets outside as much as possible. If they're up to it, they can go on runs with me! If not, I can take them to the park or beach to play fetch.
