Availability

Upon wake up, we will take your dog out for a walk. We are an early family and are generally out of the house walking by 630am during the week. The length of the walk will depend on what your dog needs, though definitely willing to walk up to 2 miles at a time! We will play, rest, and just enjoy each others company! I will send pics of their stay regardless of if you request them or not. I might send too many updates so if you think I’m going overboard, it’s okay to tell me no need to send so many. I just enjoy this time so much where I don’t want you as a parent to miss out on what your dog is experiencing.

Information Brenda & Joey V. would like to know about your pet

We do need breeds which will do well with our 2 children, ages 9 and 12. We welcome dogs into our home so they could join in our normal family activities- walks to parks, playing sports, lounging around the house, both indoor and outdoor activities. If your dog is a large dog and jumps and plays with kids like they do with dogs, we probably aren’t the best fit for your dog as our girls don’t like getting knocked over or jumped on by dogs. They are sweet children and great with pets and kids, very respectful and patient. It is helpful to know any quirks your dog may have, whether they use a kennel and whether they would do well with another dog or if they need to be the only dog. We also really like knowing when they are used to going outside for the last time before bed and if it an a quick potty brk or if a walk is needed. We will do whatever your dog is used to, even if that means staying up a little later just to walk your dog. We also should know if your dog needs that exercise regardless of the weather or if they prefer no walk if it’s raining, snowing, cold, hot, etc. We want every dog to have a pleasant stay!

A typical day

We’d start the day with a walk so we could ensure the dog has enough time to go potty outside. My 9 and 12 year olds would most likely play with the dog if it were welcomed by the dog, otherwise the dog could rest too! Our kids love it when the dog wants to rest with them! Will feed when parent prefers and will get dog outside when needed to go potty.

Pet care experience

I wanted a dog my whole childhood, but had to wait till adulthood to get one. In college, I acquired 2-prairie dogs and decided I needed a dog too. I also had spent a year working directly with two chimpanzees for 1 year. Through these experiences, I’ve gained a lot of experience caring for these exotic animals and dogs of all ages. Joey had grown up with dogs and to this day, every single dog I see him interact with seems to really get attached to him quickly. Most dogs don't want to leave him once they get to know him! Our one dog we had, an Italian greyhound, had lived to 17 years old and we truly tended to his needs as they changed. The senior years required medication multiple times per day with a syringe and many bathroom breaks. We are still waiting for our whole family to have a dog of our own so have compromised and in the meantime are open to providing a safe alternative for when families need help with their furry friends. Any dog in our care definitely gets adequate outside time as well as gets fed/medications on the schedule needed. While we have a big backyard, it is not fenced in and we ensure each dog gets the exercise they need through walks. I definitely am one to adhere to specific times for feeding or any other needs when it is preferred. If we need to do something special to encourage your dog to eat, just let us know! We own a large childcare center so I am only available evenings and on days I am not working at the center. The center is open mon-fri 7am-5:30pm. Joey works from home and has the flexibility throughout the day to give a dog attention, let it sleep or just talk to the dog from across the room. Don’t hesitate to ask about availability as if we are around, we’d gladly help a family out, especially if you are in a bind! We would gladly help with shorter commitments, boarding or coming over just for a day to play on a weekend. We do not want long term doggy daycare commitments at this time. If your dog doesn’t do well with other dogs, please be upfront about this and we will discuss having your dog be the only dog if you are the first to book or other options if we’ve already committed to another family. We generally max out at 1-2 families at a time, though on occasion if we know the dogs, we might have three households. If you do want to ensure you are the only household, we can discuss.

Wow! Brenda, Joey and their kids are absolutely wonderful. Our dog is always slow to warm up, and she took to their family so quickly, and we knew she was getting great care! We very much appreciated the updates and pictures, and felt so lucky our Coco was with a loving family. We absolutely will use their care again!

Wonderful experience! Brenda, Joey, and the whole family made sure Wagyu had a great time- he had dog friends, people friends, and as much attention as he could want. We appreciated the thoughtful check-ins, pictures, and stories about what our guy was getting up to!

Another great visit for our pup. Brenda and Joey are the only people we have ever had watch her. They treat Winnie like she is their own. Winnie is always SO excited when we pull in their driveway. Cannot recommend them enough!

As always, Brenda & Joey and their two wonderful daughters took super good care of Ricky. They graciously agreed to take him on very short notice. Complete peace of mind while I was away. You can't go wrong with this family!
