Pet care experience
Peaceful couple that loves animals!
Aksel and I are a married couple living in Ucluelet. Over the years, we have taken care of many pets both in town and abroad. The pets we have looked after include rescues with varying needs, large dog breeds, a 3 month old puppy, indoor and outdoor cats, and senior pets that required daily medication. We have both grown up with dogs, and have taken care of them from puppyhood until senior status. We also have experience with chickens, peacocks, goats, hamsters, birds, and fish. While mostly interested in walks and drop-in visits these days, we are open to house-sits if it is the right fit. Since most of our reviews have taken place on a different pet-sitting platform, we have included some of those in the form of screenshots in our pictures. Please take a look there to see more of the feedback we have received from pet owners. I (Brenda) am a photographer and filmmaker. Aksel runs his own tutoring company and also teaches surf lessons. We are both planning to pursue a degree in clinical counselling later this year. The dream is to stay in Ukee long-term and contribute to this wonderful community!

Safety, trust & environment
While house-sitting in others' homes, we make sure to maintain clear and consistent communication with the pet owners. We like to have a video call or in-person meeting before the house-sit begins as a way to build trust and gather all the necessary information. During our sits, we send regular updates with pictures and videos. Throughout the 10 house-sits we have completed so far, we have easily adapted to the pets' routines (walks, meals, and overall play/cuddle time). We understand that it must be a little confusing/stressful for pets to be separated from their owners, and so do our best to keep their daily structure going while giving them lots of love!
Ratings and reviews
Brenda and Aksel were absolutely amazing! From first contact to organize and plan a surprise getaway, get to know you/puppy call, updates throughout the day, and debrief when we got back. Clearly comfortable and caring with dogs (and puppies!), we were so comfortable and confident in our first Rover sitters ever. Thank you again for all of your care and love for our pup. We came home to a very happy puppy who was obviously well cared for and had all of her needs met (and more).
Brenda and Aksel did a wonderful job with Ziggy! Kept me updated the whole time and sent me beautiful photos while they were on the walk. We will absolutely be reaching out again when we need someone to take Ziggy out while we are at work.
Brenda and Aksel came by for a meet and great before Brenda’s walk with Poe. They asked great questions and demonstrated how easily they could handle my sassy sweet Poe. I got home after a long day to a tired, peaceful pup who had obviously had great care and lots of love in my absence!
It was lovely meeting Brenda & Aksel; they were reassuring from the start, thorough and patient with a high energy puppy who's still learning about the world and needs constant supervision. They all seemed to have fun and had lots of cuddles, and sent over plenty of updates. I'd definitely like them to spend time with Dougal in the future!
Brenda and Aksel did a superb job in taking care of our dogs, Sierra and Layla, and in looking after our home. This was despite a few mutually unexpected curve balls, such as the hot water giving up and, most notably, Sierra developing a severe allergy which required trips to the vet and careful management. They did a superb and very conscientious job, for which we are immensely grateful. We had regular updates and the dogs were obviously very much loved and very happy. Highly recommended.
Brenda (Bee) and Aksel are amazing people, who truly care for all living beings and our planet. They love animals profoundly and are kind, affectionate, and responsible. Brenda and Aksel always took very good care of our late family dog, with whom they created a special and strong bond. Your loving companions couldn’t be in better hands!

Schedule
Both Aksel and myself (Brenda) currently have fairly open schedules. We have availability most weekdays before 1 pm and after 5 pm. We are available on weekends also.
Prices include all fees.
