In my clients home, I understand that I am a visitor in their animals' space. First interactions are very important so I try to build a strong foundation with any animal by acting calm and letting them approach me, making sure I am welcome. From there we can go into any routines such as feeding, walking, playing, etc. that will make the animal feel more relaxed with me around. From there I monitor body language during interactions such as playing to make sure that we are interacting on their terms.
