I graduated from college a year ago and have been bouncing around a lot, working ground control at music festivals. Between festivals, I need a place to stay, so I am especially looking for house-sitting opportunities to spend my time and have furry friends keeping me company. Other than sits and drop-ins, I'm not working, so I can give your loved ones the time and attention they deserve.

About Brandon F.

Safety, trust & environment

I am big into travel, so I've met and lived with animals around the world. I've volunteered at shelters in the Bay Area, SoCal, and Louisiana. I was most recently living on a horse ranch in Georgia (the country) and took care of 2 farm dogs and a kitten. They were very independent and mostly required food, water, and serious cuddles. On the other hand, I've watched pets of various temperaments that had strict diets, medication schedules, and mental and physical health needs. I know every animal is different, and I'm happy to do all I can to care for yours just as you would. If your pet needs to sleep in bed with someone at night or other specific requests, I can do that. I will also be exploring Chicago for the first time, so if your dog has any favorite parks or routes, I would love to know!

Pet care experience

I grew up in a household full of pets and have been lucky to live with people who also own pets, sharing the responsibility. Over the years, I've taken care of many dogs and several cats, rodents (guinea pigs and hamsters), hermit crabs, and fish. I have mostly owned small dogs and have been lucky to see them mature into their senior years, so I am familiar with the unique challenges that can come with age. I do feel comfortable walking and caring for dogs of any size. Right now, my family is fostering two 6-week old puppies who need lots of attention and care, so I am learning a lot about puppies. While I haven't yet charged for my services, I have been trusted by friends, family, and community members since I was 15 to pet-sit and house-sit.

Brandon has watched my dog for a few nights on occasion. He's a reliable dogsitter and he's really in tune with animals' needs and knows when something is wrong.

Having known Brandon for almost 10 years now, I can say with absolute confidence that he is a loving and respectful pet caregiver. I have witnessed him care for pets with anxiety issues and physical ailments with dignity and compassion. Brandon is an affectionate pet owner who understands the responsibility of caring for animals, both his own pets as well as others.

Brandon is a close family friend and neighbor. His family has big an active part of our community for many years and they often help us with our (now elder) cats when we are away. Brandon in particular is very good with them and will always let us know if something seems off. He can give medication and doesn’t seem to mind a few scratches, haha!

Brandon is my cousin and we've asked him to house-sit and walk and feed our mini-schnoodle and pittie mix on a few occasions over the years. One of them is a rescue and can be leash-reactive and scared of new people. He's a good walker and gives them lots of attention. We also had a cat for a few years before giving her away because she didn't get along with our dogs. He is really responsible, meticulous, and one of the only ones we trust for extended periods of time to stay in the house without us there.
