Availability
I am now in the office full time, so for walks and check-in’s I can do 5:30p or after on weekdays! Or early morning as well. Weekends I’m usually flexible all day! I am also a clear and timely communicator so coordination will be quick and transparent.

About Bonnie H.

Safety, trust & environment
I will follow your instructions and requests to the letter when I walk or drop in on your pets! Every cat and dog is a little bit different and you know yours best, so I will ask before my initial visit to meet the pet first and talk with you about exactly what is needed.
Information Bonnie H. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know any special needs or requests, how they interact with other animals, what interactions with me (petting, play) they like or do not like, and where their favorite treats are! For dogs, please let me know how to handle other dogs on the street, if they can go off leash at dog parks, and any food allergies/whether they can have treats from the front desk when offered, etc.
A typical day
I will ask you what your pet likes to do best! For dogs I’ll ask where they like to walk and if they prefer long walks, the dog park, or games like fetch, and for cats I’ll ask about their style of play (I know firsthand how each cat plays different!).

Pet care experience
I have been a pet parent since I was 7 years old, and started sitting for dogs and cats of friends and neighbors at 13. I have volunteered at three different animal rescue shelters and received behavioral training for dogs via HRA here in DC. Through the rescue I adopted my cats from in Atlanta, I was the “cat lady” at Petsmart for a half day every week taking care of adults, seniors, and kittens (including special diets and medications). I am experienced administering medication to both cats and dogs (one of my cats currently takes a daily heart pill!). I am, more than anything, an animal lover and I cannot wait to make sure your pet receives the same love and attention that I want my own pets to get when I myself am away! That is, not just a 5 min run in-and-out or a perfunctory walk, but meaningful interaction and enrichment (on the pet’s terms).
Reviews

Cannot recommend Bonnie highly enough! She took such great care of our two cats, one of which isn't normally a fan of strangers but warmed up to her on the first day - we felt at ease that our cats were in such great hands.

We couldn’t have asked for a better cat sitter than Bonnie. On very short notice she stepped in to care for our newly operated cat and from the very beginning she great in every way. Bonnie handled his medication with great care, kept us updated with photos and videos which was very appreciated. She also won Bosco’s heart, enough said! We can only emphatically recommend Bonnie. Thank you so much and we will stay in touch.

Bonnie is the best! She takes such wonderful care of my cats. This time around, one of my cats had some bowel issues (on the couch) and Bonnie was kind of enough to clean it up. I feel so much better leaving home knowing they are being well taken care of.
Tilly had immediate connection with Bonnie- she brought her a favorite toy that she doesn’t typically share! Great to have such an experienced, caring person to help with our girl!
