After earning my BS, MS, and working at high levels of government for two decades, I've decided to focus on what really matters to me. My dogs and your dogs! I'm generally free for dog walks or visits and snuggles morning to early afternoon, and can typically board during the week or the weekend.

Safety, trust & environment

Your dogs are in good hands with me! I live in a very safe and friendly neighborhood. I have 2 neutered male dogs. Hamilton is a 3.5 year old, 9lb Chihuahua mix and Peter is a 2.5 year old, 25lb scruffy mix of of cuteness. They love having friends over and going on walks with buddies. They share their toys and aren't aggressive abut food, although I do separate guest dogs in different rooms when feeding . I have a fenced back yard, 6ft. in all areas with the exception of a small 4ft section. If your dog is a jumper, I can lock my doggie door when I'm not closely supervising. My yard is definitely secure for small dogs! On walks, I'm strong enough to work with all breeds and all sizes, and will keep your dog away from other dogs, kids, or anything else you know makes your or them uneasy, When it's hot out, I bring plenty of water for your pup, and check to make sure the concrete/asphalt isn't too hot for their sensitive paws.

Information Betsy M. would like to know about your pet

Let me know if your dog is known to bolt and run if given the opportunity so I can be extra diligent. My two dogs are very accommodated to adventures with guest dogs, but they are small, so if your dog is aggressive in new situations, please let me know. I also allow my dogs on couches and in my bed...yours would be free to join us, unless you tell me that's a habit you don't want to break later! :)

A typical day

If you as a parent approve, I love to take dogs to the dog park and run free. I also have plenty of fun places around my home for leash walks, and a wagon for older dogs or little dogs who get too cold when there's snow on the ground. My house is filled with dog toys! I'll play fetch, tug of war, and watch my two puppers play with their new friends, or give the squirrels in my backyard a team talking-to. I also have plenty of dog beds for naps, snuggles, and belly rubs. I let the dog's energy and comfort level lead our activities. Primarily I want your dog to feel safe and loved. We can ramp it up from there!

Pet care experience

Hi! My name is Betsy and I form real bonds with my dogs and those I care for. Growing up in rural Colorado, all the neighborhood dogs joined along as I walked home from the school bus stop and stayed with me all afternoon. I was the cool house for dogs! I'm an athlete, and if they're energetic, I can run with your dog for miles, with plenty of stops for water, hugs, and face-licks. Very sadly, I lost two of my senior dogs a few years ago. Absolutely heartbreaking, but I became very skilled and diligent about giving them meds and watching closely for changes in mood, behavior, or appetite, so I can provide you with feedback if I notice changes in your dog, and alter my care accordingly. Also, for senior dogs who may experience too much pain walking, dogs recovering from surgery, or little Chihuahuas wrapped in blankies when its cold and icy, I have a comfy wagon for pulling those kiddos around in, because all dogs deserve to feel safe, loved, and happy! Walking dogs is never a chore, it's a huge privilege for me. I've potty trained numerous puppers and believe in positive reinforcement, but I'll use whatever technique you are comfortable with, including crating. I will NEVER scare or hurt a dog for any reason, including training. I'm also a professional photographer who specializes in dog photography, and I'd love to do a photo session with your pup at a reduced cost while they're staying with me! I'll capture they're personality doing whatever it is they love.
