CARE & SAFETY For smaller pets I can accommodate in my home, I make sure to keep their climate comfortable and my own pets safely contained. I am happy to provide playtime or free-roam time according to your preferences. In your home, you can rest assured that the routine your pet is used to will look exactly the same under my care as it does under yours. I am meticulously cautious about locked cages and doors, proper storage of food and medications, behavioral awareness and appropriate responses, and basic first aid.

Information Bethany "Beta" H. would like to know about your pet

WHAT I NEED FROM YOU I will always ask about your pet's daily routine; permission or limitations for treats; vet info, including an after-hours contact just in case; where the pet stays at night or when no one is home; whether they are crate trained and/or house trained; how they get along with other animals and people; whether they’re reactive to any particular people, actions, situations, etc.; any known medical or behavioral challenges and how you typically manage them; any alternate contacts who could be called in case of an emergency; whether they have any favorite toys or snuggle spots; what you’d like me to do if your pet becomes ill or injured, or if there are any behavioral incidents; and what kind of checking in you’d like from me while you’re away.

A typical day

A DAY IN THE LIFE First and foremost, my priority is always ensuring your pet's routine stays as similar to whatever they are used to as possible, to help minimize any separation anxiety while you’re away. That said, a typical day will vary greatly depending on the pet's age, breed, and temperament! For a dog who is older or more mellow, we’ll most likely stick to potty breaks and leisurely walks as needed. For a younger or more active dog, regular trips to a dog park or playtime in the backyard, if you have one, are key for keeping them stimulated and their energy regulated! Due to my own physical limitations I can’t offer to take your dog on a rigorous hike, but pretty much everything else is free game! I’m always more than happy to provide plenty of affection and snuggles if the pet enjoys that, but will respect their space if they prefer.

Pet care experience

(Exotics, farm critters, and more also welcome!) Everyone who has known me for more than 5 minutes can tell you three things about me: 1. It would not be surprising to find out at any moment that I have a new animal living with me. 2. I should be sent every dog, reptile, or guinea pig meme you come across. 3. If we’re out in public and I disappear, it’s probably because I saw a dog I desperately needed to say hello to. I grew up with dogs and cats, and my family regularly boarded our friends’ pets. As a teenager, I volunteered during the summers as a wrangler at a horse camp. In the 12 years college, petsitting has been my favorite side gig, and I’ve done many a volunteer stint with various rescues. I particularly love caring for dogs, since my apartment complex rules don't allow me to have one of my own. (Instead, I have a menagerie of two rats, two guinea pigs, a snake, a turtle, and a gecko.) All this to say, I’m the seasoned animal lover you can easily trust with your critters! I have a particular soft spot for the ones with special needs, and am completely comfortable with any extra care that may entail (pun intended). I can’t wait to meet you and your furry, feathered, or scaled loved ones!

We are so lucky to have found Beta!! They were able to make a connection with our anxious pup right away and totally put us at ease. They were kind, communicative, and left our apartment in perfect condition. Through the pictures Beta sent, we could tell that our pup was well taken care of and happy. We look forward to working with Beta again and wholeheartedly recommend them!!

Beta was lovely to work with and great with our pups. Very communicative and helpful and a good pup pic taker which is weirdly rare on here. Will definitely book them again!

Beta instantly passed the vibe check at the meet and greet with our crew (2 dogs and 1 cat) with all animals smothering them within minutes. Absolutely obsessed. We could tell Beta is an animal lover through and through and so could the crew. Beta took amazing care of the them and sent daily photos, which provided us with peace of mind we needed and allowed us to enjoy our trip fully without worry! We’ll definitely book Beta again. Highly recommend!
