I’ve had pets all my life and have been pet sitting regularly for the past six years, mainly in the UK. That’s included dog walking, home visits and overnight stays, with animals of different sizes, breeds and temperaments. I’m also happy to look after cats and other small pets. I’m good at sticking to an animal’s usual routine, whether that means feeding at certain times, walks, medication, play or just giving them space to settle. I tend to be calm, observant and consistent, and I know that makes a real difference when pets are in a new situation or their owners are away. I also keep owners updated with messages and photos, so they know their pet is safe and being properly looked after. I speak English and German and I’m currently learning Italian. I also live with my partner, Simone, who is fluent Italian and loves animals.

Bernd took care of our cocker spaniel, Vasco, for four days. We needed somebody that we could really trust to take care of our dog as we were flying back to the UK for a family event. Vasco was in really good and safe hands with Bernd. Bernd was terrifically easy to communicate with and very reassuring in his tone and messages. All his excellent reviews on Rover were extremely helpful and very much deserved. We would recommend Bernd for dog care whole heartedly.
We had a wonderful experience with Bernd! He welcomed our dog with so much love and care, treating her as if she were his own. Throughout her stay, she was happy, relaxed, and incredibly well looked after, which gave us complete peace of mind. Bernd took care of Gnocco for the day while we went on a boat. It says a lot that Gnocco walked straight up to him, tail wagging, and didn't even look back when we left. Gnocco is quite picky, so seeing that instant connection was amazing. Bernd is a true natural with dogs!

Schedule
I work from home and have a flexible schedule, so I’m able to build my day around the pet’s needs. I’m available throughout the week and can usually accommodate weekends with notice. My routine naturally includes time outdoors, so regular walks and consistent exercise fit in easily. Because I live with my partner, there’s usually someone at home, which means pets are not left alone for long stretches. I can also adapt to their usual routine as much as possible.

Safety, trust & environment
I provide a calm, quiet home environment and usually only look after one pet at a time, so they have my full attention and space to settle in. There’s plenty of indoor and outdoor space, and the outdoor area is fenced. Before any stay, I like to understand the dog’s routine, temperament and any specific needs, including feeding, exercise, medication and anything to avoid. I stick as closely as possible to what they’re used to, as that’s usually what helps them feel most settled and secure. I pay close attention to behaviour and energy levels, and adjust accordingly. I also keep owners updated with messages and photos, so they know exactly how their pet is doing while they’re away.
A typical day
A typical day depends on the dog, but I usually try to keep things as close as possible to what they’re used to at home. That generally means walks, time outside, meals at their usual times, some play or company during the day, and plenty of time to rest.
