Full-time Professional Dog Walker
I’ve been around dogs and cats since I was a kid. My first dog was a hyper Rhodesian Ridgeback who wandered on to my family property when I was 15. She was a handful, but I learned a lot taking care of her over the years. Since moving to NYC, I’ve lived with many dogs. My old roommate had a pit bull rescue named Mona, who I grew very close with while sitting and walking her over the course of a year and a half. She was very sweet but also suffered from previous trauma and was not socialized with other pets. Due to this, I learned a lot about the nuances of dealing with reactive dogs and working to establish mutual respect and responsibility to keep everyone safe in any situation. A year ago, I rescued my own puppy, a beautiful pit bull mix named Hollyhock. Raising her has been an incredible experience and I want to spend as much time as I can getting to know more and more animals. I also love cats. My cat Tweak currently lives with my mom but I miss that little fuzz ball every day! As a freelance musician, my schedule is very flexible. I spend most of my day at home watching my dog, who gets to go to the park 3-4 times a day.

Schedule
I’m currently working just about full time as a pet caretaker. Every morning, I take my dog(and our guest dogs) on a long walk with playtime at the park. On weekdays I’m usually away from the house walking regulars for an hour or two at a time in the middle of the day. When that’s wrapped up, we take another trip to the park, have dinner and another walk. Once all the doggies are nice and tired, we have cuddle and relaxation time until bed.

Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
My apartment is the only unit in the building. It’s pretty spacious by NYC standards, and we have a private patio with lots of space to run around. My dog grew up here from three months old and it’s pretty much evolved into a dog paradise for her and her friends. I can’t help but spoil Hollyhock with all of the best toys, chews, and beds she needs and more, and she is a sweetheart who loves to share her stuff with our doggy guests. I’m pretty lax with giving the dogs access to furniture and space, but firm with making sure everyone has a place to eat and relax without crossing any boundaries. When I have more than one dog over, I always supervise at all times to make sure play is fair and balanced. If I leave the house, I put them in separate rooms out of an abundance of caution. I always do my best to help each dog acclimate at their own pace and get comfortable on their own terms so no one feels left out of bullied. Sometimes this means taking all the toys away for a while if they’re causing issues. More often than not, all it takes is an especially tasty treat and a group walk out on the town. Please let me know where your dog is allowed to go(the subway, dog park, bars/stores, etc.), and whether they are allowed off leash hours at the park(I never let them off leash unless explicitly permitted by you).

A typical day
We go to the dog park a few times a week. There’s also a nearby field where the neighborhood dogs love to socialize and run around on the grass. I bring Hollyhock here every day and it’s her favorite place in the world. There’s also a really cool distillery nearby that gives out bone broth pupcicles. Almost every dog that stays with me gets to go there at least once and sink their teeth into one of those delicious things.

- Please let me know how your dog interacts with others. This is extremely important. I need to know any history of bites or other behaviors that might be unsafe for my dog or me.
