I found Beidget to be a very personable and intelligent young woman, who told me that she had grown up with cats and so had past experience with them. As 90% of her photos with pets on Rover.com featured dogs, that information was reassuring; and so, I hired her to stay overnights for 2 weeks to care for my two 7year old cats. I appreciated that she sent me photos of my cats each day, along with a few sentences on how they were doing; and that she did her best to interest them in eating wet food rather than only dry, which I had stressed to her was important for their urinary health. Another thing she did was to figure out how to set the new automatic feeder I had just bought, so that they would get a portion of dry food during the night, rather than waking me or her up very early to feed them. Where I see room for improvement is in general cleanliness in the house and in the cat areas: 1) The floor area around the two litter boxes was covered with old litter, so the whisk broom and stick vacuum provided there for daily cleanup were not used consistently; 2) Rather than wash out the litter boxes when the litter became used and smelly, she just covered it with a large amount of fresh litter, which shows either inexperience or laziness in someone who claimed she was used to taking care of cats. 3) The stainless steel bowls that held the nightly dry food portions were dirty, with dried saliva and dry food remains, showing that they were not hand washed daily, as I had asked to be done with all of their food dishes. 4) Lastly, my house was cleaned just before Beidget started staying here; and I would expect that any house sitter would clean up after themselves as well as the cats, and leave the house in the same state they found it in. Unfortunately, when I returned I found was a large amount of dried mud on my entryway carpet and some in my bathroom, along with very dirty glass shower doors. In her defense, Beidget started a new job at the same time as starting her house and pet sitting for me, and that job entailed walking through mud; and she asked me where my broom was, so that she could clean that up. However, she also had a canister vacuum and cleaning products at her disposal and I feel that she should have used them to do a much more thorough job of cleaning the mud, dirt and shower before she left my house. I think anyone who hires Beidget in the future will expect her to keep all cat dishes, water and litter boxes cleaned once or more daily, and that they will come back to a house as clean as they left it.
