Cats were my siblings as a child. I probably have a bit more of a cat personality than a dog. I relate to them, and they can generally sense that. I always like pet parents to tell me what their cats' routine is so that I can try to duplicate that because change is scary for sensitive creatures. I am grateful that I have a pretty flexible schedule so I can meet almost any cat's expectations. My schedule will mimic their regular schedule as closely as possible.

Safety, trust & environment
I have had cats since birth and have been fostering bully breed dogs, and special needs and hospice care dogs since 2008 and adapt to their needs and requirements as individuals. I see animals as equals or superiors. They are my favorite people. I can also provide empathetic care for pet goats, potbelly pigs, sulcata tortoises and chickens. I need your feedback and your reviews. Some pet parents do not provide reviews or tips and Rover sitters rely on those. Please help us out if you are able, especially those of us who do this full-time.
Information Becca G. would like to know about your pet
I will need to know if your dog has ever been leash aggressive (I do not allow leashed dogs to socialize regardless), pulls heavily on the leash (i have a compromised hand and arthritis), resource guards, is dog-selective, or has a high prey drive so I can keep everyone safe. Is she afraid of thunder? Does she have separation anxiety? Does she pace when you aren’t home? Does she stop eating when you leave town? I also need to know if your animals have escaped before and what the circumstances were so I can be sure it doesn't happen on my watch! Also, please make sure your pets are microchipped and have well-fitting harnesses or collars with up-to-date information. I also ask people to leave a crate available in case there is an emergency. Written instructions are important.
A typical day
Your animals will dictate what we do! I will ask what their favorite activities are and give them that as best I can every day! It is important to me to mimic their everyday routines. If you are normally home with them at night, it isn’t fair to them to leave them alone at night, for example. I do need to be able to leave now & again to check on my own family but I am never gone long.

Pet care experience
Caring for animals is a full-time job for me and I take it very seriously. Raised by cats and trained by many dogs, animals are my favorite people. I've cared for animals all my life and rescued them in an official capacity since 2008. I am the founder and director of a small 501 c3 nonprofit animal sanctuary for neglected animals from high kill New Mexico shelters and hobby farms: from cats & dogs to reptiles, goats, roosters, hens and pigs. I am particularly fond of bully breed dogs as I have extensive experience fostering and rescuing them. It is for that reason that I have a preference for animals that were adopted, but I LOVE them all. My parameters of where I can housesit are based on my ability to provide the best care for both your animals and mine. I am native to Santa Fe and have many clients on the Eastside and South Capitol, but generally, homes I overnight in must in safe areas, have secure fencing for the animals, and be smoke-free and sparing in their use of harsh chemicals such as moth balls and harsh cleaners because breathing is important to me, and I am sensitive to those substances. I have a LOT of experience with special needs animals, especially congenitally deaf dogs. I prefer caring for animals that are spayed/neutered. It is generally better for them, for both health and behavioral reasons, as well as ethical ones. Anyone who has volunteered in a shelter in New Mexico will attest to this. I will always make exceptions for animals that are too young for those procedures. As a side note, Rover sitters rely on your reviews, and tips to cover the Rover fees. We often incur extra expenses for commuting to your home and to the dog park, as well as wear & tear on our vehicles. More importantly we need your feedback to make sure we are doing our best for your pets! As a former property caretaker I aim to leave your home as clean or cleaner than I found it. Please leave instructions for your cleaning preferences, where to leave sheets and towels, or for those that have housekeepers, please leave their contact information. My hope is that the only work you have to do when you return is cuddling your animals.

Reviews
Always grateful for Becca’s time with my two dogs. Rather than just biding time while I am away Becca makes sure they get out and about to new places- dog parks, runs and other areas- where they can be safely off-leash. Feels like they get a vacation, too. Becca is always communicating and proactive. She truly cares for the dogs, bringing a replacement for a favorite toy that recently bit the dust. She is aware of their environment, looking out for them and for the spaces as well, for example noting new nests and fledgling birds that appeared while I was away to keep all the backyard residents safe. She is a caring and excellent caregiver. Grateful for her and highly recommended her without reservations.
Another very positive experience working with Becca. Returned to happy dogs and a happy house and received photos and updates throughout my trip. A great caregiver and communicator, Becca always has my highest recommendation.
Becca is a great sitter. My two dogs look forward to her stays and I am always relieved when she is available to stay with them. My dogs are very different in age and stamina. Understanding that, Becca takes them to a fenced dog park where they can enjoy the freedom at their own pace. She is also understanding of Oscar's need for consistent close contact. A thoughtful and intuitive caregiver, both the dogs and our home are well cared for by Becca in my absence. Would highly recommend her services.

Great cat-sit. Becca kept in touch and took great care of our two cats. I would definitely use her again.
