Professional Dog Handler for UW 🐾

Hi, I’m so excited to meet you and your pets! I have plentiful experience handling dogs in high-stress, unpredictable environments while staying calm, attentive, and focused on their needs. As a handler for Dubs, the University of Washington’s adorable malamute mascot, I’ve cared for a large dog in loud, crowded, and constantly changing settings. Because of my experiences, I’m confident managing dogs who may feel anxious or overstimulated. Beyond that, I grew up caring for my family’s rescue dogs and regularly dog sat before moving to college, giving me experience with a wide range of temperaments and routines. I’m also comfortable supporting dogs with chronic medical needs (as I grew up with an epileptic shetland sheepdog) and understand the importance of consistency, patience, and close attention to detail. Overall, I will always prioritize creating a safe, calm, and positive environment so that every dog feels comfortable and well cared for. Shoot me a message so we can set up a meet & greet to find out if I’m the best sitter for you. ** allergy note ** I love cats, but I am unfortunately allergic to them, so I am only able to do short drop-in visits!

Safety, trust & environment

**safety** I’ve cared for big and small breeds (from huskies to pomeranians) so I’m comfortable adapting to different personalities and needs! I stay super aware of our surroundings on walks, avoid hazards, and carefully manage interactions with other dogs if necessary. I have experience with both reactive and more submissive dogs, so I know how to keep watch out for triggers and ensure walks stay calm and positive. I’m very mindful about food or other easily ingestible things found on walks and always keep an eye out for anything that could put a pup at risk! I believe honesty is the best policy, so if I were to notice something off with your pet, whether that be a limp or a change in demeanor, I would let you know ASAP.

So glad me and Maple found Bea. I am on crutches this week due to my injuries and she’s been a lifesaver taking care of Maple and her walking needs. Maple instantly loved her. I absolutely recommend Bea!

Beatriz was a wonderful sitter for my dog and cat. She sent tons of photos, and was very communicative and responsive. I felt very at ease with Mina and Leo in her care and would recommend her highly!

Beatriz (Bea for short) is wonderful with dogs, and has a lot of experience with them both in her own family and in ours. Our two canine family members, Whip (Labrador mix, now deceased) and Faye (Doberman, three years old) found a friend in Bea. She understands dogs well, and establishes a relationship quickly with them. Bea also has a unique skill set from being one of only a handful of the University of Washington’s mascot handlers for Dubs the Husky. This required Bea to go through extensive interviews and training, and it was a very competitive process as well. She is very qualified to take care of dogs of all shapes and sizes, in my view.
