Availability
I am semi-retired which gives me flexibility. That said, drop-in visits work best with my lifestyle, whether you prefer I come once or twice per day. If you have only one cat, your cat isn’t very social, or you’d like me to come twice a day, 30-minute visits may be sufficient. If you have multiple cats, one who needs more company/play/special care, are outside my usual service area, or would like me to water plants or the like, an hour might be more realistic. There’s a discounted rate for one-hour visits.

A typical day
I’ll follow your lead on your kitty’s needs and preferences (feeding and litter box details, whether they are allowed treats, favorite activities, toys, habits, behavioral quirks, medications or supplements, etc). Written instructions are always appreciated. Beyond that I’ll take my cues from your cat’s behavior, whether they want to play, be petted or brushed, have a cuddle, have a chat, or just be in their own space. Whatever they feel like doing, a big Thank You for your trust and for sharing your kitties with me! They make me smile and, quite often, laugh. They’re a delight!

I would say longevity, consistency, communication and enthusiasm. I have years of experience taking care of cats, my own and others. I have roots in my community and no plans to relocate, so you’re unlikely to be searching for a reliable sitter after a time or two because I’ve left the Berkeley area. My extended family is also mostly local, so I’m around during holidays when others might be traveling. Also, I’m at a place in my life where I have the time and flexibility to prioritize care for your kitty(s)! Communication is important to me and I do a lot of it, so you will not be left wondering how things are going at home while you are traveling (unless you opt out of receiving messages and photos). Finally, caring for your kitties is not ‘just a job’ for me…they truly bring me joy, and I love looking after them!

Bea was very attentive to our kitty and matched her energy/needs very well. She was very willing to adapt to whatever our cat was interested in doing-cuddling, playing, etc. She was easy to communicate with and you can tell she really loves cat sitting. Thanks Bea!
Beatrice did a fantastic job caring for my two cats, Max and Nano, while I was away dealing with a family health crisis. She handled a challenging situation -- one of the cats had been in the ER the day before I left, with meds to take but an uncertain diagnosis -- calmly and creatively. She provided detailed reports that helped me understand my cats' condition, and she went the extra mile to ensure they were taken care of when I couldn't return until very late in the evening. She even brought her own toys to enrich the play sessions. I returned to happy cats and a much better situation than when I left. Beatrice will be my go-to cat sitter from this point forward and I highly recommend her to others in the Berkeley area.
