Availability

As a stay-at-home dad, pet care fits very naturally into my daily routine. During the school year, I have flexibility and availability throughout the day for drop-ins, walks, feedings, and check-ins. Summers are even more open, allowing me to offer consistent, reliable care with a flexible schedule. Because I’m home-based, I’m able to prioritize punctuality, routine, and communication. Pet care isn’t something I try to squeeze in — it’s something I can intentionally plan my day around to ensure your pets receive dependable, attentive care.

Safety, trust & environment

When caring for pets in a client’s home, my priority is keeping their routine as normal and stress-free as possible. I follow feeding schedules carefully, provide exercise or playtime based on their needs, clean litter boxes or pick up waste promptly, and reinforce any household rules or training already in place. I understand that pets feel most comfortable in their own environment, so I focus on consistency, patience, and attentiveness. I also provide regular updates and photos so you can feel confident and connected while you’re away. With over 15 years of experience training puppies for Canine Companions for Independence and a lifetime of owning both dogs and cats, I’m highly observant of behavior and body language, ensuring your pet feels safe, secure, and well cared for at all times.

Information Barry J. would like to know about your pet

Before caring for your pet, I like to learn as much as possible so I can give them the best and safest experience. Every pet is different, and knowing their routine helps keep them comfortable while you’re away. Here are a few important things I like to know: • Feeding schedule and portion sizes • Potty routine and any house training details • Energy level (very active, laid-back, etc.) • Temperament around people and other animals • Any medical needs, medications, or allergies • Triggers (loud noises, other dogs, etc.) • Favorite toys, activities, or comfort items • Any training commands or behaviors you’re working on I also appreciate knowing anything that helps your pet feel more at ease, whether that’s a certain routine, crate use, or just extra attention. My goal is to keep everything as close to their normal routine as possible so they feel safe, happy, and stress-free while you’re away.

A typical day

I start my day by making sure every pet in my care is comfortable, safe, and on their normal routine. Morning visits include feeding, fresh water, potty breaks, and some playtime or a walk to burn off energy. Throughout the day, I stay flexible based on each pet’s needs. Whether that’s drop-in visits, walks, or spending extra time with pets that need attention, I make sure they’re not just cared for — but happy and relaxed. I have experience working with dogs of all ages, including puppies, so I’m comfortable reinforcing basic training and routines. For pets staying longer or needing more care, I provide multiple check-ins, playtime, and plenty of attention so they don’t feel stressed while you’re away. In the evening, I wrap up with feeding, walks, and making sure your pet is settled in for the night. I also send regular updates and photos so you always know how your pet is doing. My goal every day is simple: treat your pet like my own and keep their routine as normal as possible.

Reliable, Loving Care for Your Pets

Pet care experience

I bring over 15 years of experience as a puppy trainer for Canine Companions for Independence, where I helped raise and train service dog puppies with structure, consistency, and patience. That experience gave me a deep understanding of obedience training, behavior development, socialization, and building trust with dogs of all temperaments. I’ve also had dogs and cats my entire life, so caring for animals isn’t just something I do — it’s who I am. I’m comfortable reinforcing training, working with puppies, and providing gentle, attentive care for senior pets. I understand routines, communication, and the importance of making pets feel safe and secure while their owners are away. What sets me apart is reliability, experience, and treating every pet like family — with structured care, attention to detail, and consistent updates for peace of mind.

I’ve known Barry Jones for many years. He and his family raised service dogs for Canine Companions, a 501 C3 organization that supplies dogs to the disabled population. Barry is kind and loving with his handling of animals. You can count on him being reliable.

I’ve known Barry for at least 25 years when his family and mine were raising and training service pups for Canine Companions. He has a calm and loving demeanor with all animals but especially with dogs and cats. Barry respects and recognizes that each animal is unique in temperament and behavior and can work with the differences. I would trust him with my own pets!
