I grew up surrounded by pets and they were always a source of happiness — something special to come home to every day. When I left home about a year ago, I realised just how much I missed the unconditional love and comfort that animals bring into our lives. While living in Australia and knowing I couldn’t have pets of my own at the time, I began helping friends and acquaintances who had dogs or cats — taking them for walks, spending time with them and making sure they were well cared for when their owners couldn’t be there as much as they wished. That’s when I discovered how meaningful this could be: a beautiful, almost symbiotic relationship between pets, their owners and myself. Because I grew up with both a dog and cats, I understand that every pet has different needs. Puppies and senior dogs require different care, just as kittens do compared to adult cats. I’ve also had experience caring for my dog after surgery, making sure she was comfortable, changing her diaper and giving her medication gently through her food. I care for every pet as if they were my own. I enjoy playing with them, taking them on walks suited to their energy levels — short or long depending on what they need — and for more active dogs, I’m happy to go running with them. I’m mindful of their routines and diet, and I believe love can be shown in many ways: through affection, brushing, calm companionship, play and attention. Unfortunately, I’m not able to host pets in my home, but I’m more than happy to adapt to your routines and needs.
