I am a strong advocate for animals and believe education is one of the most important tools in preventing cruelty, neglect, abandonment, and irresponsible pet ownership. I support educating both children and adults about the responsibilities that come with owning a pet, proper animal care, and the importance of speaking up when an animal is being mistreated. I believe stronger laws and harsher penalties are needed for animal abuse, neglect, abandonment, and unethical backyard breeding practices. I am also a registered foster for both our county and city shelters and help whenever they are in need of support for animals in care. Services I provide include: • Doggie Daycare • Dog Boarding • Basic Dog Grooming • Drop-In Visits for Dogs & Cats • Pet Transportation Services I try to remain flexible with drop-off and pick-up times whenever possible. If your travel plans change after your reservation begins — such as flight delays, traffic, weather conditions, or early returns — please communicate with me as soon as possible so we can work together to make any needed accommodations. Please note: Rover does charge cancellation fees according to their policy. ❤️🐾 Transportation services are also available, and I can pick up or drop off your fur baby at your home for a small additional fee.

Safety, trust & environment

My goal in caring for your pet is to provide a safe, comfortable, and loving environment where your precious fur baby feels happy and secure while you’re away. I treat every dog as if they were my own, and I will always follow your care instructions and routines to help your pet feel at home. I share my home with my two dogs, Roxi and Ace, which allows me to create a calm, dog-focused environment where your pet receives plenty of attention, care, and companionship. I only board dogs in my home to ensure a safe and controlled setting for all pets in my care. Throughout your pet’s stay, I provide regular photo and video updates so you can feel reassured knowing your fur baby is safe, happy, and well cared for. I have two designated backyard potty areas, and since we spend most of our time indoors, I focus on enrichment activities such as brain puzzles, sniff mats, hide-and-seek games, fetch, and optional training sessions upon request. I also enjoy taking dogs on walks in quiet neighborhoods or peaceful parks without overwhelming distractions like loud noise or crowded dog areas. I strongly believe in positive reinforcement and reward-based training methods. I will never tolerate harsh treatment or punishment toward pets. My goal is to build trust, confidence, and positive experiences while your dog is in my care. 🩷🐾🌸

Information Barbara P. would like to know about your pet

Before your pet’s stay, I like to learn as much as possible about their needs, personality, and routines so I can help them feel safe, comfortable, and stress-free while in my care. Please let me know the following: • Any medical conditions, allergies, medications, sensitivities, or special care instructions • Your dog’s temperament and personality traits • Whether treats are allowed and if there are any dietary restrictions • Whether they can have rawhide, chews, or special snacks • Any special diet or feeding schedule they follow • Whether they are leash trained and potty trained • Whether they sleep in a kennel/crate at night or prefer another sleeping arrangement • Any noises, situations, or triggers they may be afraid of (fireworks, loud vehicles, thunderstorms, etc.) • Any past trauma, anxiety, or negative experiences I should be aware of • Their normal sleeping habits and routines • How they interact with other small dogs The more I know about your fur baby ahead of time, the better I can provide a loving, safe, and personalized experience for them. 🩷🐾

A typical day

1. Morning potty break and breakfast as soon as everyone wakes up. 2. Exercise & Activity Time I never leave dogs unsupervised — ever. I adjust activities based on each dog’s personality and energy level. Low-energy dogs enjoy relaxing time with back rubs on the patio or cuddling on the sofa while watching Dog TV. Their main exercise usually includes calm morning walks. High-energy dogs start the day with active playtime, running around with my dog Ace (Roxi prefers relaxing), playing fetch indoors or outdoors, and engaging in brain puzzle activities for mental stimulation. 3. Nap and quiet time to rest and recharge. 4. Midday potty break. 5. Treat time with enrichment activities such as puzzle mats and sniff games. 6. Evening walk in a calm, low-distraction environment. 7. Dinner time (“din din time” 🐾). 8. Evening playtime, bonding, or optional training sessions. 9. Final potty break followed by quiet relaxation time to help everyone settle down and feel calm before bed. 10. Bedtime and cozy sleep time.

Pet care experience

My home is where I care for your fur babies, and my goal is to make every guest feel safe, loved, comfortable, and at home while away from their owners. Please note: I am a middle school teacher during the school year (mid-August through the end of May). During that time, I am available weekends only — Fridays after 4:00 PM through Sundays at 7:00 PM, along with school holidays and breaks. During June and July, I offer my full range of Rover services. Unlike many boarding facilities, I specialize in caring for indoor-only pets and dogs that become anxious or stressed in traditional kennel environments. Many dogs are uncomfortable being kenneled for long periods or waiting among large groups of dogs for attention and playtime. Unless an owner specifically requests kennel sleeping arrangements, indoor pets are free to roam, relax on furniture, and enjoy supervised access to the backyard for potty breaks. I do not use kennels unless the owner provides one or requests it. At night, your pet sleeps comfortably just like they would at home. Although I mainly focus on small dogs, I do make exceptions for larger breeds when it is the right fit. I have cared for Standard Poodles, German Shepherds, Belgian Malinois, Retrievers, Great Danes, and Cattle Dogs whose owners wanted a calm, indoor-home environment rather than a traditional boarding facility. I also accept select special requests for: • Luxury or elite breeds • Dogs in heat • Rescue dogs needing extra patience and support • Dogs that should not interact with other animals For owners requesting a private “VIP Stay,” your dog can enjoy individualized care and the main living area without interaction with other guest pets. VIP accommodations are available for an additional $12 per night. Although I primarily cater to smaller indoor pets, I have experience caring for dogs of many sizes, temperaments, and needs. Feel free to contact me to discuss accommodations and see if I may be a good fit for your pet. Whether you need care for a few hours while spending time with family or friends, a full weekend getaway, transportation assistance during appointments, or pet care while visiting Bakersfield for a special event, I am here to help. What to Bring for Your Pet’s Stay Please provide: • Leash and/or harness • Their bed or favorite blanket • One favorite toy • Plenty of treats • Food portioned for each meal If your pet requires special meal preparation, I am happy to assist as long as written feeding instructions are provided, including portions and feeding times. If your dog is required to sleep in a crate or kennel, please bring their kennel from home whenever possible. I do have one medium-size kennel available if needed, primarily used during feeding times. If your pet is not fully potty trained, please notify me in advance and provide pee pads if necessary. There are no additional fees, but advance notice allows me to properly prepare my home for your pet’s stay. Please note: Puppy rates override additional pet rates. I am certified in pet CPR and currently continuing my education toward becoming an AKC-certified boarder. My dogs are family, and I care deeply about the safety and emotional well-being of every pet in my care. I will treat your fur baby with the same love, patience, affection, cuddles, tummy rubs, and back scratches I give my own pets. 🐾❤️ Additional services available: • Doggie Daycare • Pet Transportation & Appointment Drop-Off/Pick-Up • Basic Grooming (Wash & Dry) • Drop-In Visits for Dogs & Cats For safety, I do not take dogs to crowded dog parks while other dogs are present. I may also use AirTags during walks or outings when appropriate for added safety and peace of mind. I am very flexible and willing to work with pet owners whenever possible. Feel free to contact me to discuss your pet’s specific needs — all requests are considered. Positive reinforcement, patience, and consistency are always used for training and behavior guidance. I do not use punishment-based methods. Please take a moment to read my reviews and see why pet owners trust me with their furry family members. “Up2Parr Solutions” 🐾
