I’m retired so this is my social life looking after peoples dogs. I very rarely go out so I’m with the dogs 24/7 while they are here. I do have a car so often taken them to various parts of the north east for walks just as a little change for them

Information Barbara H. would like to know about your pet
it’s extremely important for me to know all about your dog. Do they get on with other dogs (I have council license for 4 dogs)) so usually will have other dogs here so please don’t expect your dog to be the only dog. In all the years I’ve boarded I’ve never come across a dog that doesn’t get on with other dogs. They may be shy or afraid at first but a few hours later they end up being best friends with 1 or 2 Do they get on with people I don’t have many visitors but it’s better to know how they will react to them. Male dogs have to be neutered for me to board them ( as stated in my license) females don’t have to be spayed but should not be in season. Are they food aggresive do they likes going for walks do they like going out in the rain where do they like to sleep do they eat plants! I usually see their personalities coming out on the 3rd day they are here and the little things they do at home they will do here like one how liked to eat his food during the night. I soon understood what was happening but at first I was worried he wasn’t eating at all and one of the others was gonna get fat! Also please note I only board small dogs and although ad states up to 17kg I can’t take in ie labradors/collies/lab doodles etc my home wouldn’t be suitable for these types of dogs and therefore not fair for the dog. Many Cockerpoos can be quite heavy dogs but are small in height so hope all taller dog owners understand I’m thinking only of the dogs comfort
A typical day
Every day varies from the one before which having furry playmates over. The younger ones love to play with toys (which we have many) but they like you to join in otherwise it’s boring playing by themselves. They enjoy watching me go about my daily routine and can’t wait for me to sit down so they can snuggle up on my lap. We do go for short walks and long walks depending on the ability of my guests. Not many small dogs like the rain and cold but we always manage to miss the downpours and enjoy ourselves sniffing here and there ( the dogs of course) sometime in the afternoon is nap time and everything goes quiet for an hour or so until it all starts again until home time

Pet care experience
I have taken care of other people dogs for over 26 years now I’ve always had dogs but after last one died over 10 years ago I now look after other peoples. I live in a ground floor purpose built flat with front garden and back garden with dog proof fencing cctv cameras 2 huge lockable entrance/exit gates in garden. I do have a 5 star council license with Newcastle city council ( petmaids) and allowed 4 dogs at any one time but don’t take large dogs. Please note if you are looking for solo boarding for your dog it’s not possible with me also no uneutored dogs bitches don’t have to be spayed but definitely not in season. Your dogs will be extremely well cared for with 3/4 walks a day depending on their physical abilities. I have a huge box of toys numerous dog beds leads dog food etc etc. I’ve been with rover for nearly 3 years and met some very well behaved ones and the naughty ones of course (but they always end up being good) the dogs are treated as if they are my own. I have help being my daughter and son who both absolutely love any dog that comes to stay
Reviews

Our 6 month old Westie stayed with Barbara for 4 days (day care) and was looked after really well. She seemed to really enjoy. Updates Amanda communication from Barbara were excellent.

We were so nervous to be away from our little treasure, but Barbara took such good care of her. Really good communication, and a fabulous service provided, we would have no hesitation whatsoever in booking Barbara again, and we will!

Great communication & Arlo has had a great time for the week. He’s absolutely exhausted.

Very good dog sitter/carer and a lovely person. Thank you.
