My dog came home whole and safe, and for that I will give 2 stars. However, my overall experience was not a pleasant one. Before and during my dog’s four-night stay, I made it clear to Avery that regular updates and photos were very important to me, especially since he is a senior dog with some health issues. Despite him initially “happily” agreeing to, he only sent one text update the very first morning without me having to ask. I had to pester him for each update, every evening after not hearing from him during the day. At no point did I receive an update regarding his demeanor, activity level, eating habit, allergies, etc. I’m paying for a service, and I shouldn’t have to repeatedly ask or beg for basic updates. A couple of check-ins a day is a reasonable expectation for a senior dog, especially when I communicated this need multiple times in advance. Halfway through the boarding, there was a 40-hour period with no communication at all. Multiple messages were left unanswered and I almost called Rover. He finally responded but provided no explanation or update on my dog during that time period at all. I asked if my dog was okay or if there were any issues and his response was “What time are you getting him” as if it wasn’t listed on the booking info. When I asked again is he okay he said “See you at your pick up time” with a blurry picture of my dogs back. At this point I realized this was intentional. This caused a lot of anxiety on my travel day... Only 1 hour before my pick up time did he try to save face by sending a paragraph of how “well taken care of” my pet was…After having to beg for updates my entire trip. Again, only after asking, I received a total of 3 photos within 4 days, all which looked like “proof of life” photos and nothing like the comforting/cozy photos displayed on his profile. The reluctancy to keep me in the loop plus not being offered the option to come inside his home/boarding area during drop off made me wonder who I left my pet with my entire trip. It doesn’t matter how “well” a pet is cared for in private. Dogs can’t tell us how they’re doing, so the only peace of mind I could’ve had during my dog’s stay was through consistent communication from the sitter. I have never had an issue with any sitter my pet has previously had. After successfully using Rover for 11+ years, this experience has made me reconsider using the platform in the future. If you just need a sitter that wants a quick buck and don’t care for updates or responsiveness go ahead and book. For pet owners who value communication and reassurance while they’re away, I would not advise.

Avery was truly a great fit for my 12 year old boxer, Tyson! Once I met Avery, I knew Tyson would love him and I felt so blessed that I chose Avery for the 10 day stay. Avery's personality and love of animals is evident in the connection he made with Tyson. Furthermore, Tyson looked better when I picked him up than when I dropped him off! Tyson had other playmates during his stay with Avery that made for even more fun! I would not hesitate one moment to use Avery again. Thank you so very much Avery for taking such wonderful care of my sweet boy!

Avery was responsive, friendly, and did a wonderful job with Zo! He took him to explore new places, had a pup date with other pups in the area, and gave us some helpful tips for his care and training moving forward. Would definitely book again!

Avery took great care of our dog for two days. He booked us last minute, which was a huge help, and was reliable and clearly comfortable with dogs. Our pup came back happy and well looked after! Highly recommend Avery, and we'd absolutely book again!

Avery was so excellent with my dog, Taffy! He kept her having fun and active, and handled her well when she can be a bit too much with other dogs. He sent adorable pics and videos and was very responsive! She will be back!

Avery was amazing with Cash and Rayne! I needed a backup sitter last minute and he was very accommodating. He was very active with them and even bathed them! He has access to many dog friendly amenities for dogs. The whole experience was just a blessing! I will most certainly use his services again!
