Pet care experience

Dog-loving and owning Brooklynite

I've had dogs in my life since I was an infant and was always called upon by family friends to take care of their pets since I was a child. Until recently, I had a rescue Shih-Poo, Pebbles, who was my rock and joy. Currently, I am the go-to dog sitter for my friends, providing walks and long-term stays whenever available. I also have experience providing medication, dealing with tummy problems and have a personal family member who is a Vet for any urgent, non-emergency issues that arise.

Avery was an incredible dog sitter! She and her partner were incredibly attentive to my senior dog. He was well taken care of and provided very well detailed updates during his stay. She has experience taking care of senior dogs and she was very mindful of my dog's issues. I highly recommend Avery!

Avery was so wonderful with our old dog! Treated her like her own, extremely understanding of our dogs higher needs and separation anxiety, and sent adorable pics and regular updates throughout the weekend! Our dog was so happy she didn’t want to leave at the end of the weekend!! 100% would highly recommend!

Avery and her husband Marc were splendid, excellent sitters for my dog Gus. They were so patient and knowledgeable with him as he is a senior with certain age quirks, medications to take, and just some things to look out for. My partner and I felt comfortable having Gus stay with them and we appreciated all the updates we got too. We can tell he enjoyed his time with them. We will definitely be rebooking with Avery again in the future and are so happy we were able to find senior dog lovers who enjoyed caring for Gus.

Avery was super communicative and took great care of my dog! She sent daily pics and updates which not all sitters do and made sure my dog was doing well despite his sensitive stomach.

Avery is absolutely clutch! Our dog loves her and she takes excellent care of him as they go on mini walks and adventures. Our puppy is super high energy but Avery is a puppy whisperer. 10/10 would recommend Avery to every New Yorker looking for a caring walker!

Avery was an incredibly thoughtful, thorough and helpful walker! She gave me tons of updates, was very flexible and open, and was very skilled in taking care of Sunny! I would highly recommend her and I know Sunny can't wait to hang again soon! Thank you for EVERYTHING, Avery!

Schedule

I predominantly work from home and have a relatively flexible schedule. When I wake up, I usually take dogs for a walk first thing and then it’s time for breakfast and either snuggles or play. I try to do mid day - afternoon quick potty breaks, with a longer walk before dinner. After work hours are pretty calm in our house, watching TV or reading so plenty of time to pay attention to pups! Then we go for a final night time potty break before snacks and bedtime.

Safety, trust & environment

I live in a high-rise building that is predominantly young families with dogs, with 24/7 doormen. I never let dogs roam off-leash unless in a fenced in park and controlled environment with owner permission. When on walks, I gauge the dog's interest in meeting other dogs before allowing anyone to come up or the dog to go to another. It's important that the dog is comfortable and feels in control at all times.

A typical day

I love to take dogs to parks for long walks or have them socialize in a dog park. I’m very attentive when dogs are in my care, so if there are any requests I will make sure they’re abided to when exercising with your dog.
