Availability
As a PhD student, most of my days are spent working from home, which gives me plenty of flexibility for walks, playtime, and check-ins throughout the day. And I’m happy to work from your home if I’m house sitting! Please note for fall 2026 I will need to go to campus on Mondays and Wednesdays and would be gone for 6-7 hrs those days. On rare occasions when I have a longer day on campus (8 hrs), I will let you know before booking. That way, we can create a plan together to make sure your pet is cared for without interruption. My goal is to provide consistent, reliable care you can feel confident about.

Safety, trust & environment
I treat every pet as if they were my own. At your home, I’ll respect your routines and preferences, making sure pets feel safe and secure in their familiar space. Safety is always my priority — I’ll keep a close eye during walks, follow your instructions carefully, and ensure your pets feel comfortable and cared for.
Information Ava P. would like to know about your pet
I always like to know if your pet has any special needs, quirks, or behaviors I should be aware of. For example, how they do with other dogs, whether they have dietary restrictions, or if there are certain routines that comfort them. This helps me give them the best care possible and anticipate situations before they happen.
A typical day
A day with me usually includes walks, playing, and evening cuddle time. For dogs, we’ll go on neighborhood strolls, enjoy trips to nearby parks, or just have fun playing fetch. For cats, I make sure they get the perfect balance of play, stimulation, and quiet companionship. I adapt my care to each pet’s personality — whether that means being active and engaging or creating a calm, relaxed space for them to feel secure.

Animal lover, now animal sitter!
Pet care experience
Animals have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, and caring for them has become second nature. Over the years I’ve cared for everything from my family’s golden retriever to my Maine coon cat, to bunnies and horses. I’ve also fostered dogs of all ages, from wiggly puppies to seniors needing extra patience and support. Those experiences taught me how to adapt quickly, read animal behavior, and respond calmly in any situation. What really sets me apart is the way anxious or shy pets open up to me. Many families have told me, “Don’t be surprised if my dog keeps their distance,” only to come home and find their pup happily curled up at my side. Building that kind of trust — especially with nervous animals — is one of the things I love most about this work. I bring a calm, steady energy that helps pets feel safe, understood, and cared for like they’re my own.

Reviews

I can’t say enough good things about Ava. We had never left our dog with anyone prior to this trip. Our pup is anxious & not super fond of having guests at our house, so we weren’t even sure it would work. Ava won her over during several dog walks & visits, and the overnight stay went better than I could ever have hoped. Ava sent lots of photos during her stay, which helped us enjoy our vacation with peace of mind. She is responsible & easy to communicate with. Highly recommend!

Ava was absolutely wonderful with our dog, Willy, while we were away for the weekend. She was reliable, responsible, and clearly loves animals. We came home to a happy, well cared for pup and really appreciated the peace of mind she gave us while we were gone. Highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring dog sitter!

Ava is wonderful! She dog sat my 2 dogs at my home for the week and I couldn’t be more pleased with everything. She sent so many nice updates and pictures. I have a German Shepherd who isn’t great with strangers who loved Ava! She took great care of my dogs & my home and is a great communicator. She went above and beyond to make sure my dogs were well cared for and had fun while I was away. I highly recommend her, she is absolutely amazing!!

Ava was wonderful! She house sat our two cats for a couple of nights - kept us updated on their antics and provided additional updates and photos throughout her stay. Highly recommend for in home cat-sitting!
