I have lived and worked with dogs my entire life. I work at the animal protection society of Durham to help even the hardest of dogs find perfect forever homes. After working with so many different kinds of animals, I understand animal behavior cues so I can create a safe and comfortable space for every pup.

Outstanding dog-sitter! I left my retriever with Ava for 2 nights and she was very well taken care of. She had the run of the house and a nice shaded backyard, and always people around. Also she could play with Ava’s two friendly dogs while there. I’ll be back!
Ava was great with Polar and he loved having her take him on walks and watch the house while I was out. She stayed aware of heat and adjusted walks accordingly. I also loved the photos and detailed updates. Polar is looking forward to having her watch him again.
Ava is a wonderful pet caregiver. She truly loves all animals and is always passionate about giving the best care. She is incredibly responsible and will always put her all into every pet. She has watched four dogs and three cats entirely by herself and was able to create a comfortable atmosphere for the four days she was watching them. I would strongly recommend Ava as a pet caregiver.
Ava has a house full of pets - 2 dogs and 4 cats - and is heavily involved in caring for them. On the weekends she volunteers wit the Animal Protection Society of Durham, walking and caring for a range of different dogs at the facility. You won’t find anyone who will take better care of your pets than Ava.

Schedule
I will have most availability on the weekends and late afternoons, but during holidays I will have more openings during the week and to be able to come out more regularly.

I strive to always create the most comfortable setting for every dog. This means I follow the pet parents suggestions and requests, as well as reading the animals body language to watch for signs of stress and anxiety. When in a clients home, I treat the house with the utmost respect. I will always be a quiet clean guest as I my top priority is the animals safety and wellbeing.
Pets
A typical day
I love going on long and short hikes where your pup can spend time relaxing outside. I believe stimulation is vital for every dogs health so I will make sure I spend the most time making sure your dog is happy and safe. If your dogs likes to play fetch I will play fetch for hours because I’m used to my crazy dog! Or if your dog is more of the lay on the couch and cuddle, I will make sure they feel happy and comfortable.
