Pet care experience
Back to my pet care roots :)
I’ve taken care of pets my whole life. I was trusted as a kid to pet-house a reactive dog and I loved her more than anything in the world. From the neighborhood cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, etc. I ended up with quite the business on my hands! I also managed to slowly convinced my parents to let me run a small farm in our backyard, adding one species at a time. We had chickens, ducks and as many more small critters as I could manage and I loved taking care of them all. Now, as a grown up, I have found myself as a touring folk musician who, when home, has some time on my hands! I love getting back to my roots and taking care of creatures that might need it!

Ratings and reviews
Ava is very friendly, responsive, and my dogs enjoyed her company! I will definitely call her again.
Ava watched our dog and cat for one night while we were out of town. She was supposed to check in on them and walk the dog 2 times each day. When we came back, there was pee and poo all over the house. The cat had no water and his box had not been scooped. All of this raised concerns about whether Ava had actually checked in as often as promised. To make matters worse, when we reached out to Ava to get our keys back, she did not respond. We escalated to Rover and she did not respond to their customer service team. We finally just showed up at her house unannounced and got the keys back that way. Overall, I would not trust Ava with my pets again. I feel fortunate that no lasting harm was done.

Ava is an extraordinarily caring and dedicated dog owner (and friend!). She is my family's go-to dogsitter whenever we're out of town--our dog is overjoyed whenever we drop him off at her house. Not only is she super attentive to the needs of her furry friends (she notices and acts on every little sign that her puppy isn't feeling great or wants something), but she also genuinely loves playing with them and keeping them happy. She lives very close to an excellent dog-walking spot, the Arlington Reservoir and surrounding area, and will take my dog there every day (he loves it!). She knows what to do in the event of a pet emergency--she's located the nearest animal urgent care center and dealt with an incident completely independently and responsibly before--and she will not hesitate to promptly seek help if something goes awry. I've known her as a friend for nearly seven years, and I can say with utmost sincerity that I would trust her with anything, and that she brings passion into everything she does. Our dog has never loved a sitter more.
My family had Ava dog sit for us, staying at our house with our dog. She was very reliable and caring towards our dog. She took great care of our puppy and sent us updates throughout her time with her. Letting us know that our dog was okay and being well taken care of. Ava is a hard worker and I’ve known her for many years and know she would make a great dog sitter. She loves dogs and animals in general and is very reliable and loving with animals. She is responsible and will take great care of your dog as well as your place while she’s dog sitting for you. I know Ava would take great, loving care of any dog she was caring for.
I have known Ava M. for 5 years. For the first 4 years, I was her track coach, and she was a captain of the track team for her junior and senior years. She loves animals and humans alike, and it is this caring along with her responsibleness that resulted in her being voted captain for her team, multiple seasons. I have known about her love of dogs since season one, and this job would be perfect for her. She has her own dog, so she has personal experience. I've seen her with her own dog plus the dogs of her friends, and I'm sure she would be equally great with anybody's dogs. Plus she is very fit and would be happy to take your dog for a long walk or even a run to get some energy out! I'm happy to have had Ava M as an athlete and captain, and I'm happy to recommend her for dog sitting!
I cannot recommend Ava more as a dog sitter or walker. She is caring, responsible, and loving toward animals, and has years of experience caring for dogs of all ages and conditions.

Schedule
I am a touring folk musician so when I am home, I have the utmost flexibility with my schedule! When I am away, i’m away, when i’m home, i’m available!
Where your pet will stay
Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
I generally go for maximum safety. This means I probably won’t have them off leash unless in a super secure fenced in area and with reassurance from the owner about the pets recall and reactivity. I also generally feel like on-leash interactions with stranger dogs are not worth the risk so tend to avoid those with my own dog as well as clients dogs. I am sensitive to the weather and a breeds tolerance to heat/cold. Not only a dog’s safety but also their general comfort is very important to me.
Pets
A typical day
Depending on the pets personality, I will do what they enjoy. Whether that’s fetch, tug of war types of games, just being endlessly scratched, doing tricks for high drive breeds, and/or long walks for high energy dogs! I am also an avid marathon runner and run with my dog (I cap him at 3 miles for his joint health and such) and could do so for your dog if that’s something they would enjoy! I generally give a dog 2 long walks a day. On trail is preferable over sidewalks in my opinion.

- Give my as much info about your dog as possible. What is their personality? I am very used to anxious dogs and would be good to know how they best meet new people. What is their energy level? Do they have any specific behavioral issues I should look out for? Any allergies? Any goals you are working on with your dog? Does the dog have any joint pain? Are they a picky eater?
