I am at home most of the time, and I can give all my attention to your pets and adapt my schedule to their schedule. I dedicate a lot of my time to ensure that pets are safe and as comfortable and happy as possible. When an animal stays at my home, they're my priority, and my whole day revolves around them, trying to ensure that all their needs are met. My husband also sometimes participates and helps out when needed, and he also happens to work from home 2 out of 5 days per week, so we're both home a lot.

Safety, trust & environment
My house is spacious (and we don't have much furniture yet, so there's lots of space), and I also have a large fenced yard. Your pet will have one empty room dedicated just for them, but they will also be able to almost always freely access the main areas of the house and choose where to nap or interact with me, being a true member of our household. During daytime, I try to supervise or keep the animals in my sight as much as possible to make sure that they are safe and satisfied. It is a big responsibility to take care of someone else's pet and I want to make sure that I know where they are and what they're doing at all times. If they're in the yard, I'm there with them; if they're napping somewhere inside, I make sure to position myself near them so that I can see them. Pets can also be stressed out when being in a new environment with strangers, so I try to console them and give them lots of attention! During nighttime, I am obviously not able to provide such monitoring, and your pet can hopefully either sleep in their dedicated room or in the same room as me. In the event that no one is home, depending on the exhibited behavior, your pet will be left alone either in the open living room - kitchen area, or in their dedicated room, or crate - this doesn't happen often though and would only last for a couple of hours at most. During your pet's stay, I will keep in touch with you and provide frequent updates and pictures as well as occasional videos (I send my messages several times a day). I let the pet parents know how our day is going, how we're spending our time, what the pets are doing and how they're feeling.

Information Auguste C. would like to know about your pet
For your pet's stay, I will ask you to provide all the items that you think your pet needs to feel comfortable here (e.g., bed, crate, food and bowls, toys, treats, collar and leash, poop bags, medication, etc.). I will also ask you to provide vaccination records and an emergency contact (for medical and other emergencies). In addition, I would kindly ask you to let me know if your pet has any health or behavioral issues (e.g., aggression toward other animals or humans, anxiety, fears, stealing food or other items, etc.) or just quirks that I'd need to address or watch out for. The more information you provide, the more pleasant and less stressful the experience will be for everybody! It could be also useful for me to know what kind of things your pet likes and enjoys, if your pet knows any commands, and if your pet has feeding, potty, and sleeping schedules that you want me to adhere to. In general, I try to accomodate the pet's needs and their owners' wishes/requests/preferences as much as possible. I am very dedicated to making your pet's stay safe and pleasant.
A typical day
My house and yard are big enough for high-energy activities (e.g., playing with toys, running, chasing, fetching), and if you have an active pet, you can be sure that they'll get a lot of play time and exercise! There are some carpeted areas in the house, which is a great non-slippery surface for active movement. Likewise, your pet will get a lot of affection from me during the day: pets, rubs, cuddles, pleasant conversations and maybe a short song every now and then :). Your pet can also engage in window watching (either in the living room or in my office which has a lot of big windows and sunshine), they can watch me cook in the kitchen, they can follow me to a bathroom if they want, and we can relax together on a couch (sometimes this includes them also napping on my lap or beside me). For dog boarding services, I can also provide one longer walk or two shorter walks per day. Walking is a great activity for the body and the mind. For safety reasons, I always walk dogs with a leash on. When walking dogs, I am always alert, use caution and scan pathways for possible hazards (e.g., kids, bicycles, dogs or other animals, food scraps or trash on the ground, etc.) so that I can avoid them in time. On hot days or very cold days, I normally limit the outside time and try to improve the conditions as much as possible (for example, in the heat, I look for more shaded areas and give more (water)breaks). We don't use air conditioning in our home, but our basement stays very cool on hot days, so we just spend most of the time down there during such days. Due to this reason, if you're interested in using my services when the weather is hot, I would need your pet to be able to go down the stairs to the basement, or the pet would need to be light enough for us to lift them and take them down there. Also, if your pet needs to sleep on the same bed as me, we use a bedroom in the basement for this kind of sleeping arrangement, so the same expectation would apply here as well.

Pet care experience
I've been taking care of my pets and other people's pets for about 25 years. I've always enjoyed the company of animals, and I find taking care of them a very rewarding activity. I have the most experience with dogs (various sizes, ages, and energy levels), also bunnies. I am originally from Europe, and growing up, there were always pets in our home. I like to think that caring for them has taught me early on the necessary responsibility, respect and attitude towards animals, empathy, as well as skills for interacting and working with them. I truly enjoyed everyday mundane tasks, as well as giving affection, playing, going on walks, training, and researching the ways how to improve their lives and make them happier. A couple of years ago, I moved to Edmonton to be with my husband (who's born and raised here) that also has had a dog in his family. Recently, we have finally moved to a house of our own, and while we're getting ready to have our own pets, I am gladly taking care of other people's pets (and my husband helps out too when needed). I am currently providing daycare and boarding services in my home. I've got to experience various dog breeds and ages (from puppies to seniors), various personalities and behaviors (including anxious or timid dogs, as well as easily excitable or high-energy dogs) - it's been a pleasure to get to know each new animal and bring some joy into their lives. I am home full-time, and I strive to provide personalized and attentive care. I always do a meet and greet at my place before accepting any booking - it's a great opportunity for pets and their parents to get introduced to the space and the people, it's also a good opportunity for me to assess the pets, as well as for everyone to determine whether this would be a good fit. I typically accept to host 2-3 pets at a time, but upon request I can agree to have your pet as the only animal in the house, or alternatively I can keep the animals separated at all times and divide my attention between them (and my husband helps out too when he can).

Thanks again for taking such great care of Mabel!!! Mabel always has such a great time staying with you.
Thanks so much for watching Mabel again. She was so happy to see you and had a great time!

This was the 2nd stay that Ren has had with Auguste. He is very comfortable and happy in her home and she takes very good care of him. She provides lots of photos and videos for me to view while I am away also. I highly recommend Auguste if you are in need of boarding services for your furry friend!
Mabel always love staying with Auguste. We always feel confident with her care. Thanks!!!
