Pet care experience

Insured and Experienced Pet Care!

I am a professional dog walker and pet sitter with over twenty years of hands on experience caring for animals. I recently moved to Suffolk County, New York from the Upper West Side of Manhattan after closing my small business in the city. Long Island has been an amazing change for us and we truly love being here. Animals have always been a huge part of my life and have shaped my career for more than two decades. Now that I work from home, I find myself really missing the daily connection with pets. I am certified in pet grooming and have experience in animal behavior as well as light training. I love teaching dogs fun tricks like giving kisses and building trust with them through patience and consistency. I also have experience working as a veterinary technician and receptionist, which has given me a strong understanding of animal health and communication with pet owners. I still maintain several wonderful clients from my time in Manhattan and I am excited to grow my services here in Suffolk County and meet new dogs and their families. About This Sitter Animals have always been my passion for as long as I can remember. I never imagined how far this path would take me, but I truly cannot picture myself doing anything else. Caring for pets feels natural and rewarding to me, and I am grateful every day to be part of their lives. Why I Love Dog Sitting I have loved dogs since the first time I was able to have one of my own. The more I learn about different breeds and personalities, the more my appreciation grows. Every dog has its own temperament and charm, and getting to know them is one of my favorite parts of this work. Meet My Pets In loving memory of Miah. Jenna is currently my active little companion. They are two beautiful Chihuahuas who have filled my life with joy and laughter. About My Home We live in a small four bedroom house in Coram with a backyard that offers space for fresh air and outdoor time. My Experience Administering Medication Yes. I am comfortable giving oral medications only.

Ashley was very knowledgeable and accommodating with my current multidog pack dynamic issues. She was very understanding of my request for parallel walking. She worked well with my new rescue and gave me a few pointers to help train her. Looking forward to working together again.

House Sitting • Sep 23, 2019

Just like last time Ashley was great! Super flexible and accommodating to both us and our little buddy. She adjusted to him and his leg pain and took him for longer or shorter walks depending. So nice to have an awesome dog sitter!

Ashley went above and beyond to take care of my dog. She was flexible with pick up and drop off. She made sure he had adequate air conditioning during a heat wave. She went to great lengths to give him his medications. And she even gave him a bath before returning him to me. She is knowledgeable and caring. I would definitely recommend her!

House Sitting • Jun 04, 2019

Ashley was very sweet and adjusted to our dog Newman. He has a lot of problems with new people and dogs and Ashley very patiently listened to how we work with him and made sure to continue working with him. Tons of pictures which we super appreciated and are so happy to now have a dog sitter and walker near the house... I think Newman is the most excited!

Safety, trust & environment

I live in a small four bedroom home in Coram with a backyard where dogs can safely get fresh air and supervised outdoor time. Inside the home, pets are never left unattended for long periods and I always follow the owner’s instructions carefully. I have over twenty years of experience working with animals, including veterinary office experience, so I am very observant of behavior changes and health concerns. I also have one senior toothless small house dog who is gentle and used to other pets, but I always introduce animals slowly and respectfully based on their comfort level.

Pets

A typical day

A typical day includes morning potty breaks, feeding, and light playtime to start the day calmly. Midday usually includes a walk or backyard time depending on the weather, followed by rest and indoor interaction. I enjoy teaching small tricks like giving kisses or simple commands to keep dogs mentally engaged. In the evening there is another walk or play session, feeding if needed, and wind down time so they feel relaxed and secure. I try to match each pet’s normal routine so they feel at home.

I like to know each pet’s temperament, energy level, and any special needs ahead of time. Information about aggression, anxiety, food sensitivities, medical conditions, or medication schedules is very helpful. I am comfortable giving oral medication. I also appreciate knowing their usual walk routine, favorite toys, and anything that helps them feel safe. Every dog is different, so the more I know, the better care I can provide.
