I work at a job in Kalamazoo from 9-5, Monday-Friday and we have a hybrid work schedule. I need to be in the office 1 full day and another half day for the most part. Depending on my week and schedule I can work where I need to and can adjust based on what you need. Some weeks are busier than others, and typically if I know I can't be available or will be busy for 8 hours or more, I will make myself unavailable.

Currently I live in a rental house with a small yard that is not fenced in. I am able to let my dog out in the yard and we also take daily walks. I have a smaller house and prefer to watch dogs in your home if possible. I find that they are much more comfortable in their own home and I can do my best to follow their routine just like you would if you were home.

I always say the more communication the better. When I am watching your pet I will often over-communicate with you and check in and share often, maybe too much. I appreciate knowing any little quirks or routines that they have and are used to. Of course any meds or supplements they need to take. I like to do a meet and greet in person at your house ahead of time to make sure I understand your routine and where everything is. Also if I'm staying at your house, I always ask where cleaning supplies are and/or what you would prefer to do should there be any accidents or maybe their paws get wet and they run in before I notice. Of course that is rare but things happen and I like to be respectful of your preferences too.

I like to tailor it to the dog's preference and what they enjoy doing, but now that my dog and I have to take daily walks I would love to take a walk and find that is a quick fix to get some pent up energy out and let them sniff around. I also do a lot of mental exercises with my dogs like 'find it' where I put a treat somewhere and have him look for it, or I will give a woof pupsicle or a licky mat. I also love playing fetch outside or just hanging outside in the sun on a nice day! All of this in addition to playing with them inside and with their toys.

Hi there! My name is Ashley, and I’m a lifelong animal lover based in the Kalamazoo area. I work full-time in hospitality sales, but caring for animals has always been one of my favorite things to do. I’ve been dog and cat sitting on and off for about 15 years and love getting the chance to spend time with furry friends of all kinds! I’ve had dogs my entire life and currently have a rescue Jack Russell/Chihuahua mix named Leo, who has taught me so much about patience, behavior, and individualized care. I also have experience with dogs of all sizes, breeds, personalities, and energy levels, from easygoing seniors to high-energy terriers and anxious or shy pets. I’ve also cared for cats, guinea pigs, and other small pets over the years. I typically prefer caring for pets in their own home because I believe familiar surroundings help them feel more comfortable and less stressed while you’re away. Most importantly, I’ll treat your pets like they’re my own and make sure they feel safe, loved, and cared for the entire time you’re gone. I’m also a big believer in communication, so you can always expect regular updates and photos throughout the stay! I’d love the opportunity to meet you and your pet. She came out and met paisley before and paisley fell in love with her instantly! Communication was absolutely amazing and got lots of great pictures! Thank you so much!
Ashley is the first person I’ve ever used on Rover and I’m so glad we did! She truly understands that dogs will be dogs and that they need compassion and patience the same way people do. She suggested a meet and greet and when all went well, our little Indy made herself right at home at Ashley’s house. Ashley also sent us updates and photos which were so much appreciated. It was clear when we picked up our dog that she was comfortable with Ashley and she was comfortable in her home. When we’re ready for another sitter, we’ll definitely be using Ashley again!
Ashley is truly amazing. We had never left our babies with anyone before and she made all of our worries disappear! She communicated how our babies were doing and sent so many pics! Our babies were loved and well cared for and we couldn’t be happier!
As always, Ashley was so great. Took care of my Rosie while she was recovering from being sick. Took care of her well and she was happy and comfortable upon my return. We love working with Ashley!
