I am a full-time dog-walker and petsitter, so my schedule revolves around petcare and it can vary quite a bit. I have a small number of dogs that I typically walk several times a week around midday, and sometimes have a short evening walk as well. During a housesit, I need to be able to leave the house to walk other dogs as needed, but I do have some flexibility and will plan accordingly around your pet’s schedule. During holidays, my daily schedule can be quite busy and I may be in and out of the house frequently throughout the day. Other days, I may only have a couple hours of work outside the house, and can lounge around at home with your pet or maybe even take them on a special outing. Generally, I will spend 16-20hrs a day in your home during a housesit. I ask that any pet can be safely left at home for a minimum of 4 hours at a time so that I can check on other clients or run personal errands. If a pet cannot be left home for 4 hours because of potty habits, anxiety, or other medical reasons, we may not be a good fit at this time. While I do have experience with many conditions that require more constant care, I simply cannot afford to live off housesitting alone. While I may be able to close out my schedule and avoid taking on additional *new* clients during a housesit for an added fee that covers potential lost income, I really value my relationships with my regulars so I can’t be totally tied to the house 24/7.

Safety, trust & environment
I’m well-read when it comes to animal psychology, as well as training methods and habit formation! I studied education in college, and grew up surrounded by children in my moms home daycare. I know that positive reinforcement is the best teacher! I communicate well with animals & I’m not even phased by the occasional muddy paw or cat scratch.
Information Ashley M. would like to know about your pet
Let me know if your dog has any special needs or accommodations! I can handle all sorts of disabilities, health conditions, behavior issues, diet restrictions, allergies, etc. You’ll usually see me wearing a fanny pack with my own doggie bags and dog treats that I would love to share, so please let me know if that’s okay!
A typical day
I love to go for walks in local parks or nature trails!! I love driving up to Sandy Creek Nature Center and walking the Greenway or the soft trails that branch off of it. I love that the greenway is well-shaded, with lots of benches for breaks if needed. Ben Burton Park is another favorite of mine because I can walk the 1.75mi trail with a dog in just under an hour! If your dog is well-socialized & up to date on shots, let me know & I might be able to arrange a dog park visit or trail walk! The private dog parks at Sandy Creek Park are also a great option for anxious, reactive, or unsocialized dogs.

Pet care experience
I’m 32yrs old & I can’t remember a time in my life that I didn’t have some kind of pet! I have experience with cats & dogs of all ages, as well as bunnies, lizards, birds, & more! Whether your pup is not yet house-broken, suffers from anxiety, follows a strict medication regimen, or has a disability of any kind, I can handle it! I currently have 2 Boston Terriors (one is mostly blind)) & 3 cats of my own (all rescues). Living with my dad some years back, I helped him with his own little Rover business & bonded with all the animals, including more than a few regulars with special needs! I have experience with arthritis, asthma, heart conditions, ACL injuries, urinary/bladder/kidney issues, paralysis, blindess, deafness, dementia, allergies, and more. I have first-hand experience with emergencies like seizures, heat stroke, and anaphylaxis. I have experience with reactive dogs, and have extensive experience with both cats and dogs with anxiety! I have administered all sorts of medications in pill and liquid form. I’m probably already familiar with your pet’s medication! I have even used inhalers on cats. I have not ever administered injectable medication to a pet, however I do administer my own subcutaneous injections so I am confident that I would be able to do the same with a pet who is used to receiving regular injections, and I would love the opportunity to add this skill to my toolbox
