Availability
This is something that will need to be customized to each booking! I currently work part-time as a medical scribe and have both inpatient (10 hour) and outpatient (~8 hour) shifts several times during the week. I will often do my morning drop-in visits between 4 and 7 AM depending on the schedule for the day. Please keep this in mind! It’s easiest to do this for cats/animals not fed on a schedule, but I have cared for several dogs as well.

At home I have 3 cats, so I don’t offer boarding services. For clients, I am willing to do whatever they need, including cleaning litter boxes and brushing. I also recently took care of a kitty whose schedule suddenly changed and he needed pills twice a day, so I’m able to adapt to changes as they come up.

I would like to know any special dietary needs, medications, and whether they are comfortable around other animals and people. I also like to ask if they have any areas where they might be sensitive/injured.
A typical day
This depends on if I’m staying at someone’s house or am taking the dog outside to walk around. I love exploring the parks and walking trails around my neighborhood, and I know that there are a lot more all over the Des Moines area.

I’ve owned pets my whole life, and I have been helping my family care for them for over 10 years. I’ve got three cats at home, and I’m very close to all of them. My skill set includes basic brushing, bathing and feeding. I always try to make an animal feel comfortable, especially those who are timid. I find that I’m particularly good with reading the body language of cats, as one of mine is very timid and I have brought out of her shell over the last several years. I also love to sing, and some people think that that has a calming effect on many types of animals. Though I have never owned one, I am open to learning to care for pets such as reptiles or rodents. I care for pets by being both gentle and playful depending on their current mood/needs. I’m always careful during playtime to not accidentally hurt an animal. I currently free-feed my 3 cats, but I’ll gladly feed your pet(s) on a schedule if that’s what you want. NOTICE: I am working part-time and will be slightly decreasing my search radius to cut down on driving time. I have a schedule that is never the same week to week and will often do my morning drop-in visits anywhere between 4 and 7 AM. Please do not request a booking if this won’t work for you!
