Pet care experience

EXPERIENCED AND OBSERVANT CARE

Every dog or other pet deserves to be seen, understood, and cared for as an individual—and every person who loves them deserves to feel heard, supported, and confident in the person entrusted with their care. Animals have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. My fascination began with a snail and quickly expanded to nearly every creature that crawled, swam, flew, ran, herded, guarded, or found its way into my care. For more than 30 years, dogs have been family to me. My experience includes breeding, conformation and obedience showing, training, herding, frisbee, dock diving, and other dog sports. Most importantly, I have shared everyday life with dogs as deeply loved companions. I have lived and worked with many breeds, personalities, and temperaments, including Australian Cattle Dogs, Australian Shepherds, Border Collies, Belgian Malinois, Dutch Shepherds, German Shepherds, and one unforgettable Shiba Inu who viewed cooperation as a personal choice rather than a requirement. My broader animal experience includes working with horses, handling cattle on ranches, raising chickens, caring for reptiles, and years of hands-on animal husbandry. These experiences taught me to stay calm, observe closely, adapt thoughtfully, and respect each animal as an individual. I believe behavior is communication. Dogs tell us a great deal through their body language, movement, energy, routines, preferences, and subtle changes. I pay attention to those details because they often reveal what a dog needs to feel safe, comfortable, and understood. I do not approach pet care as a generic checklist. A highly driven working dog, a cautious or sensitive dog, a senior companion, and the affectionate family clown may each need something different. I take the time to understand your dog’s personality, normal routine, boundaries, comforts, and individual needs. Your instructions matter. Your concerns matter. Honest, dependable communication matters. I am best matched with people who consider their animals family and want more than basic supervision. They want someone experienced and attentive who understands that every dog has a history, a personality, and a unique way of communicating. Care begins with observation. Clear communication builds trust. Trust strengthens the relationship—on both ends of the leash.

Ashley was wonderful taking care of our super high energy 1 yr old Jack Russell, Cali. At the meet & Greet, Ashley took time to get to know us and Cali. She spent over an hour letting Cali get used to the new surroundings. During Cali's stay, Ashely contacted us each day via e-mail and sent numerous photos of Cali's adventure. She offered tips on training our fur child and we highly recommend Ashley. We will definitely be repeat clients. Thanks Ashley

Ashley was very respectful to my sitting needs and worked with me to accommodate my timing. She was kind and firm with my dogs, which they responded well to. I know that because we did a visit with her before I actually left the dogs with her, which was a great thing. They were very calm and content when I picked them up. She also spent time training me to know how to train my dogs. That was a wonderful side benefit. I highly recommend Ashley and will use her again.
