Uptown Pup Care

Pet care experience

I have a 5 year old Yorkie-poo named Penny Lane and a 3 year old Yorkie named Gi Gi. If I had it my way, they would travel everywhere with me, but that's not always possible. I would love to take care of your pup while you're out of town. I've owned and taken care of dogs my entire life. There's a dog run at my apt complex, and there's a huge dog park right around the corner from my house. 2 daily walks (15-30 min each), 1+ trip(s) to the dog run/park, and lots of love included with your pup's stay. ***FREE PICK-UP/DROP-OFF!*** Ask about availability when you contact me. My weekday pick-up/drop-off times are between: 5-7:00 AM or between 7:00 - 10:00 PM) Meet and greets optional, provided that your dog is consistently friendly with others. I know it is sometimes inconvenient to do when you have last-minute travel. Penny Lane gets excited and barks a lot if we meet in our house, so we like to do our meet and greets at the dog park right down the street. I've found that if the dogs meet in "neutral territory" like the dog park they really are MUCH calmer and warm up to each other much faster. This also allows us to get the most out of our meet and greet. I've been dog sitting for over 5 years in the DC-VA area. I want your dog(s) to have the best stay possible, so I absolutely do not book more dogs than I can handle at a time. I only take one guest at a time (2 considered if from same client), so your pup will be the center of my attention! If you have a small dog that doesn't like large dogs, let me know, and I will not book a large dog during that stay. Happy to accommodate any special requests, just ask! Suggested packing list: 1. Leash, harness, and collar with ID tags 2. Food & food bowls (Please pack enough for length of stay + 2 extra days... you never know when you may be delayed due to weather, etc.) 3. Info sheet w/feeding instructions (or just put it into Rover when you book), any dietary restrictions for treats, and your vet's contact info 4. Any medications he/she takes 5. Dog treats, bones, rawhides, kongs, toys (Rawhides and bones can be particularly good for dogs who are anxious about staying away from you.) 6. Bed and/or kennel (kennels folded-up please) 7. Something that has your scent on it (t-shirt, blanket, pillow, etc) Any questions, just ask. I also do travel sitting!

Ashley was great! I particularly appreciated the care she gave to one of my dogs who got sick while she was taking care of him. I would definitely leave my dogs with her, Gigi and Penny again.

Ashley looked after Pogo while we were traveling for a little over two weeks. She was very flexible and easy to work with - we setup our appointment with her last minute as well as changed our return time because of unforeseen delay. She handled all of this graciously, including even dropping him off for us at the end of the trip, which is greatly appreciated. She also clearly has a love of dogs, having two of her own that both seem very well-tended to. Pogo was in great hands with her, and we will gladly use her again in the future.

About My Client's Dogs: I love dogs of all sizes and breeds; however, I only keep small dogs that are fairly well-behaved and will not whine/bark persistently when I am at work (9-5 M-Th, and a couple of hours on Friday). **PLEASE BE AWARE THAT I DO WORK DURING THE DAY AT THE HOURS MENTIONED ABOVE.** I would prefer that your dog be accustomed to being unsupervised for 4-6 hours per day on weekdays, especially if he/she has never been away from you. If your dog needs 24/7 supervision, PLEASE find a sitter that either works from home or consider a doggie daycare or boarding facility with 24/7 supervision. I have dealt with a lot of dogs that have separation anxiety, and I consider myself quite good at handling it. However, there is only so much I can do to "dog-proof" for dogs who chew through furniture and everything in sight. If your dog frequently chews furniture, or has a tendency to destroy everything in site, please look for a sitter that is home all day. While I understand it is not your fault, I am not able to supervise this type of behavior with my work schedule. Rover insurance does not cover damage done to a sitter's property. Please help to minimize this type of issue by choosing the appropriate sitter for your dog's needs.

A typical day

My Dog-Sitting Style: I'll walk your dog in my neighborhood, take them to the dog run next to my house, and/or take them to the dog park down the street from my home. Your dog is welcome to sleep in my room or in my living room, on the couch or in my bed. You can bring a kennel if you prefer that your dog sleep in his/her kennel. I love all types and sizes of dogs, and I always keep my Rover pups entertained. We will go for walks, hikes, play games, or just lounge around depending on your dog's style. I do work during the week M-Th around 9-5, but on the weekends, I'll dedicate all the time your pup needs.
