Information Ashley D. would like to know about your pet

Before caring for a pet, I like to know their daily routine, feeding and walking schedule, and any house rules they’re used to. It’s also important to be aware of health needs, such as medications, allergies, or mobility issues. I appreciate knowing about their personality and behaviour, including how they are with other dogs, people, and on walks, as well as any anxieties or training needs. This helps me provide safe, consistent, and stress-free care.

A typical day

A typical day is structured around the pet’s usual routine to help them feel relaxed and at home. The day starts with a morning toilet break or walk, followed by breakfast and some calm settling time. I make sure dogs get the right balance of exercise, mental stimulation, and rest, depending on their age and energy levels. Activities include walks tailored to the dog (whether that’s a longer, energetic walk or a gentle stroll), interactive play, basic training reinforcement for puppies, and plenty of one-to-one attention. For dogs who enjoy it, I also include mental enrichment such as puzzle toys or simple scent games. Throughout the day there’s lots of companionship, reassurance, and cuddles, as well as quiet time for pets who prefer to relax. In the evening, we wind down with another walk or garden time, dinner, and a calm routine to help them settle for the night. I always keep owners updated with photos and messages, and I make sure each pet feels safe, happy, and well cared for while they’re with me.

Pet care experience

What sets me apart from other sitters is the level of care, patience, and individual attention I give every pet. I’ve grown up around dogs my entire life, having been raised with Gordon Setters, and as an adult I’ve always owned Dachshunds, so caring for dogs is second nature to me. I understand that every dog has their own personality, routine, and needs. I have experience with puppies, including basic training, toilet routines, and socialisation, as well as senior dogs who may need a gentler approach, medication, and slower-paced walks. Having owned Dachshunds, I’m especially mindful of handling, back care, and appropriate exercise. I’m confident following detailed care instructions and maintaining established routines. I also keep owners regularly updated with messages and photos so they can feel completely at ease while their pets are in my care. I’m calm, reliable, and attentive, and I treat every pet as if they were my own. My aim is always to provide a safe, happy, and stress-free experience for both pets and their owners.

Samson spent a wonderful week with Ashley in her lovely home. She is calm, caring and attentive and sent me lots of photos of what they were up to. I am super happy with the whole experience and would highly recommend Ashley.

Ashley was amazing from start to finish! I have never left my 10 year old Jug before with anyone other than family and Ashley was undoubtedly the best choice. She has a lovely home and was very welcoming, I recieved photos and could see in these photos my Reggie was happy and loved whilst we were away. I would highly recommend Ashley and I will use her again.

Wallace spent the day with Ashley and Walter as a trial before a 3 night sleepover. Ashley was absolutely fantastic with Wallace. She was completely unfazed by Wallace’s lively personality: she is calm and obviously knows what she is doing. She sent regular updates on how Wallace was settling and we will have no hesitation leaving Wallace in the safe hands of Ashley and Walter in the future. It is a true home from home experience.
