I own my own mental health-focused business and work remotely, which provides me incredible flexibility in that I can work when, where, and how I want. This allows me to fit in dog sitting/walking gigs as I see fit. Since pet care doesn’t feel like a job for me (more like a hobby that happens to bring an income), I love to be flexible to enable me to spend as much time with animals as I can. That is MY definition of paradise!

Safety, trust & environment

When in my care, I’ll treat your pet like my own. The foundation of my relationship with any of my clients’ dogs is built on respect- respect for you as the parent, respect for me as the human in charge when the parent is away, and respect for the dog and their needs as an unique individual.

Information Ashley D. would like to know about your pet

ALL breeds welcome- PARTICULARLY bully breeds! Of course, I would love to know if the pet has any special medical and/or behavioral needs. I would love to know more about your dog's strengths, the goals you have for them, and how I might support them. For example, what are some things that motivate your dog?

A typical day

Let me know what your dog’s best day would look like, and I’ll try to replicate that. Just because you’re gone doesn’t mean that their days have to be all doom and gloom :)

Pet care experience

Hi there! I’m really glad you’re here. I know how personal choosing a pet sitter is. Choosing someone to care for your animal isn’t about convenience- it’s about trust, and about finding someone who sees your pet the way you do: as family. That’s exactly how I care for every animal I meet. ⸻ I’ve spent my entire life surrounded by animals- big, small, healthy, fragile, goofy, complicated, misunderstood. They’ve been my greatest teachers. Professionally, I’ve spent over eight years in pet care, starting at PetSmart where I cared for everything from dogs and cats to reptiles, fish, and exotics. I’ve completed 500+ walks and sits on Rover/Wag with a perfect 5-star record- not because I’m perfect, but because I truly show up for each pet as an individual. I also worked with Freedom Service Dogs, supporting training and care for service animals in training- an experience that taught me so much about patience, communication, and trust. My background is a little unique: I earned my degree in Animal-Assisted Therapy from the University of Denver, and even worked as an Animal-Assisted Therapist alongside dogs, horses, guinea pigs, and rats. Animals have an emotional world, and I take that seriously. ⸻ In my personal life, I’ve always had a soft spot for the ones with special needs. I’m current a mom of three cats, including one with IBS/genetic abnormalities annd another with FIV. I also adopted a 17 year old hospice cat with cancer, who ended up living well past the 3 months he was given. I believe that love and dignity matter at every stage of life. I also help care for my landlord’s incredible farm family when they travel: 2 dogs, 3 cats, 1 horse, 2 ponies, 4 donkeys, and a flock of chickens. Honestly, it’s my dream job! ⸻ My Promise to You and Your Pet I don’t rush visits. I don’t “just feed and leave.” I sit with them. I learn what makes them feel safe. I even talk to them- though no one has talked back…yet. Whether your pet is shy, anxious, elderly, energetic, or extra wiggly, I will meet them exactly where they are- with patience, respect, and genuine care. If you’re looking for someone who will love your pet in your absence, not replace you but reassure them until you return- I’d be honored to help.

We asked Ashley back to check in our pups because they missed her from the first time! She went above and beyond, cleaning their bowls, taking out the trash, and even cleaning up an accident one of them had when we were away. She's our go to for our doggos!

Ashley was so great! She left detailed summaries that kept us feeling ensured our dogs were doing just fine without us there. She was quick with communication and so helpful. She was so observant and let us know one of our older dogs had a limp (I forgot to tell her she has arthritis). We will be using Ashley again!

Love Ashley! She went above and beyond to win over my growly but lovable Pit- even though he was being unsociable. I have full trust she will be his best friend in the future. You can feel her genuine love for animals, and they love her back.
