I’m currently part-time at Pig Candy BBQ, where I mainly work mornings from 10–3 on Saturdays and Sundays, and evening shifts from 4–8:30 on Thursdays and Fridays. Because of my schedule, I have a lot of flexibility throughout the week for pet care and attention. I love going on walks after my morning shifts and before my evening shifts, and I spend a lot of time outside already, so incorporating walks, playtime, and outdoor breaks into my routine feels very natural to me. I also enjoy spending quality time with animals at home and making sure they feel comfortable, active, and cared for.

In my home, I make sure pets feel safe, comfortable, and included in my daily routine. I let my dogs outside frequently throughout the day for bathroom breaks, exercise, and fresh air, and I spend a lot of time giving them attention and interaction. I also continue working on training and enrichment with them, one of my dogs recently became deaf, so I’ve been teaching him hand signals and new ways to communicate so he can still feel confident and engaged. Both of my dogs have their own cozy spots in my room where they love to sleep and relax, and I always try to create a calm, caring environment where pets feel at home.

Before watching a pet, I think it’s very important to know their routine, personality, energy level, and any special needs they may have. I like to learn about feeding schedules, medications, allergies, favorite activities, bathroom routines, and how they behave around people or other animals. I also want to know what makes them comfortable, what causes stress or anxiety, and any training commands they already know. Having this information ahead of time helps me provide the best care possible and makes the pet feel more safe, relaxed, and comfortable while their owner is away.
A typical day
I love keeping pets active, engaged, and comfortable based on their personality and energy level! Some fun activities I enjoy doing include walks, playtime with toys, fetch, tug-of-war, outdoor time, and practicing simple commands or tricks for mental stimulation. I also make sure pets get plenty of attention, cuddles, and companionship. For calmer or senior pets, I focus more on gentle play, relaxing company, and keeping them comfortable and stress-free. My goal is always to make pets feel happy, safe, and loved while their owners are away.

In highschool I worked at a kennel that focused on overnight boarding, daycare and dog training. I worked there for 3 years where i learned how to administer medication, train dogs, treat dogs with patience and understand reactivity.
