Five quiet acres in Lake Stevens, and no crowding. Your dog isn't surrounded by unfamiliar dogs or waiting for a turn outside. There's room to chase a soccer ball, splash in the creek, or find a quiet corner and decompress. For a nervous dog that space matters more than anything else we could offer. No kennel noise, no being pushed into playgroups, no other family's dog to negotiate with. We're especially comfortable with dogs who need a slower start. The ones who hide the first evening, won't eat the first night, or shadow you from room to room. And we're patient with seniors, whether that means help on stairs, medications on schedule, or just a soft place and a predictable routine. This started with Bear, our Australian shepherd, who didn't get along with other dogs. Finding boarding built for a dog like him turned out to be almost impossible, so we built it. If your dog struggles with boarding, tell us what usually goes wrong. It's often something we can work around. We're not the right place for dogs who are reactive or aggressive toward people, or who have bitten someone. We have young children at home. If that's your dog, message us anyway and we'll point you toward someone nearby who specialises in exactly that.

Ashley was awesome for Rufus! She sent plenty of updates and was very communicative throughout. Very nice and clean home with kids to play with which I'm sure Rufus loved.

Ashley and Jason were great for our dogs. Both Roxie and Luna felt right at home and were well cared for. I appreciated getting daily texts with photos of them out playing and hanging out. Their daughters loved our Frenchie and she loved getting all that attention!
Ashley and her family provided excellent care for our golden retriever Conner. Received photos daily of him playing and looking so happy!! We felt reassured that he was very comfortable and enjoying his new environment while we were on vacation.

Schedule
Ashley works remotely and Jason is a full-time stay-at-home parent, so someone is on the property nearly all day. Your dog isn't alone in a strange house waiting for us to come back, which for an anxious dog is usually the whole problem. Pet care is already part of our day rather than added onto it. Meals, walks, medications and playtime fit a routine that's been running for years.

Some dogs don't do well in a kennel. Ours is set up for those dogs. Your dog stays in our home, not in a run in a building full of strangers. They're in the kitchen while we cook, out on the property with us, and on the couch in the evening. We follow whatever routine you set, feeding schedule, medications, how much exercise they want and how much quiet they need. If your dog has a way of doing things, we'd rather keep it than change it. Dogs from different families are never introduced and never share space. Each family gets their own room or one of the separate runs in our heated garage, where they can rest out of sight of any other dog. We don't make exceptions, including for dogs everyone describes as friendly. That rule is why a dog who finds other dogs stressful can stay here safely. We have two young daughters, so dogs here get used to kids in the house. The girls are gentle with animals, and they're never alone with your dog.
A typical day
Breakfast on your dog's schedule, medications if they take them, then out to the property while it's still cool. Long stretches outside during the day, one family at a time, so nobody is waiting behind a fence for a turn. There's a creek on the property for dogs who like water, and no shortage of tennis balls and soccer balls for the ones who'd rather chase something. Dogs who'd sooner sniff the fence line than sprint get to do that instead. A quiet nap window in the afternoon, then photos and an update go out to you. Dinner, a last walk around the property, then time with us. Everyone sleeps inside. We don't have a fenced yard, so dogs go out on long leads rather than off leash. It means a person is with your dog the whole time they're outside, which for a nervous dog is usually a feature rather than a limitation.

What they do when they're stressed. Two questions we'd particularly like answered. How is your dog around other dogs, honestly rather than optimistically, since it changes how we schedule their outdoor time. And is your dog comfortable around children? We have two young daughters at home. They're gentle with animals and will never be alone with your dog, but a dog who finds kids stressful won't have a good stay here. If your dog has been boarded before and it didn't go well, that's the most useful thing you can tell us. It's usually something we can design around.
