Pet care experience

Lifetime animal lover

I’ve grown up surrounded by animals of all kinds, from cats and dogs to chinchillas and hamsters; and caring for them has always been second nature to me. Whether they were my own pets or beloved animals of friends and family, I’ve gained experience with a wide range of personalities, routines, and care needs. I pride myself on being adaptable and attentive, adjusting my care to fit each animal’s unique temperament and stage of life. In addition to pet care, I’ve worked with children for over six years, which has strengthened my patience, responsibility, and ability to care deeply for others; both human and furry. I currently have cats of my own, and while I recently lost my dog, the love and dedication I learned through caring for them stays with me every day. I treat every pet as if they were my own.

Pets

Safety, trust & environment

I tailor my care to each pet’s individual needs, routines, and comfort level, whether I’m caring for them in my home or in their own environment. Before providing care, I take time to learn about feeding schedules, medications, activity preferences, and any behavioral or medical considerations. In a client’s home, I focus on maintaining the pet’s normal routine to reduce stress. This includes timely feeding, fresh water, litter box or potty care, playtime or enrichment, and quiet companionship as needed. I am especially attentive to pets who are shy, anxious, or older, allowing them to set the pace for interaction while still ensuring their needs are fully met.

Ashley took care of my very anxious cat for a long weekend while I was away. She fed CeCe her wet food at the specified times, emptied the litter box (although the new bag was empty when I returned home) and filled the water fountains when needed. My issue is how I found my house when I got back home. I found out very quickly that Ashley clogged the bathroom toilet on the first floor and left an absolute mess for me to find without any type of warning that this had happened. You could tell from the plunger that she tried to use it but the plunger collapsed on itself. I had thought she had tried to clean the plunger in the kitchen sink (which is gross) because there was a large brown ring around the garbage disposal drain. This was confirmed the following day when I went under the sink and found wet items that had wet brownish water stains on them. It is up in the air still if I have to call in a plumber or not. I need to pull everything out and lay out paper towels to see if there is still a leak happening. The upstairs restroom toilet had very little water in it which meant a plunger was needed for that bathroom as well. This toilet at least didn't have anything left behind but in cleaning that toilet I found she broke the plastic padding on the seat that leans against the ceramic toilet bowl. I know this because I cleaned it before I left and the padding was not like that. There were also two pieces of toilet paper on the floor which were used and should have been in the toilet. Had she given me a heads up and said I am so sorry I clogged your toilet and couldn't get it unclogged I could have looked past this but to come home to all this without so much as a heads up it is very disappointing. The whole thing is very disturbing and on top of that I may need a repair for the kitchen sink and I now have a broken toilet seat. Who pays for damages? Ashley or Roover or am I out of luck? I also have new nicks in both my family room wood table and dining room wood chair that weren't there before I left. I have had lots of people stay with my cats in the last 30 years and I have never come home to a mess like this. How she left my house is inexcusable.

Ashley was very attentive to our dogs and communicated all the necessary information. The dogs really liked Ashley. We are thankful for the peace of mind while away because Ashley cared for our dogs so well.

We are angry and disappointed with Ashley for the care she provided for our pets and our home. She was to care for our cat and 18 year old, nearly blind and deaf dog for 5 days at our house. Her behavior, in our opinion, was inappropriate and extremely unprofessional. In addition, and most disturbing, she packed her bags and left the house without even notifying us at the end of day 4. In our opinion, it appeared that she had abandoned our dog, cat and her responsibilities. We had to make a last minute, emergency care arrangement for our pets for the final day. We have notified Rover, they have opened an investigation, and we will be providing them with details and concrete documentation that validate our concerns.

Ashley was excellent with my skittish pup! She even took her to urgent care vet with constant communication while I was a state away. I highly recommend her service!

Ashley was so great for a last minute drop in, I appreciated the communication and her chilling with him while we had to be out of town
